Prahlada Maharaja said: Hearing and chanting about the transcendental holy name, form, qualities, paraphernalia and pastimes of Lord Visnu, remembering them, serving the lotus feet of the Lord, offering the Lord respectful worship with sixteen types of paraphernalia, offering prayers to the Lord, becoming His servant, considering the Lord one’s best friend, and surrendering everything unto Him (in other words, serving Him with the body, mind and words) — these nine processes are accepted as pure devotional service. One who has dedicated his life to the service of Krsna through these nine methods should be understood to be the most learned person, for he has acquired complete knowledge. https://vedabase.io/en/library/sb/7/5/23-24/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=356 7:02 Smaranam means remembrance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=422 10:40 Meditate on the living God. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=640 11:52 The Lord is the ocean of Bliss. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=712 12:06 Roop madhuri, Murali madhuri, Leela... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=726 14:08 different Names, different qualities of... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=848 14:20 the most important is the remembrance! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=860 15:40 they cleanse the heart of endless lifetimes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=940

Main Points:

1  we discussed that we are all tiny parts of God, who is an ocean of bliss, hence we have the inherent urge to be blissful and we cannot rest contented until we get such bliss, which is infinite in extent, which is ever fresh and once attained it will never be snatched away from us -  that is the sat chit anand of God that bliss will be attained when we attain God himself    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=0   2  in order to attain God, we will have to go beyond the purview of our senses mind and intellect because he is divine beyond the material realm, and hence we must not harbor this vanity that by our intellectual analysis, we will be able to fathom (measure, attain) God. He is only known when He bestows His grace and grants to the soul His divine intellect.  On receiving God's power, any fortunate soul can see him, hear Him, reach Him, think of Him, know Him and attain Him. However, God's grace is not a whimsical act from His side, we will need to do something to attract His mercy, what will we need to do ?   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=44   3  we discussed His eternal law, He graces those who surrender to Him, yesterday we discussed that it is the mind which needs to be surrendered, for the mind is the cause of bondage and the mind is the cause of liberation.  Our mind is presently attached to the world, if we are aspiring to attain God realization, we must deeply contemplate how to detach the mind from the world and we discussed this will require us to understand that the happiness of our soul is not in material objects   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=117   4  when the intellect holds this discrimination, this vivek, it will then develop the power to pull the mind away from the world, just like you pull your mind away from a cup of poison even though it is very tasteful, for you know it has the ability to kill you   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=170   5  hence Shri Krishna said in the Bhagavad-Gita, Arjun repeatedly think of the defects of this world, its miseries and torments, your mind will then come away from it, but the mind coming away is only half the story, the second half is how now to attach this mind to God, this requires practice   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=195   6  just like in the material realm, you mastered so many skills, whether you became a graduate, a post graduate, whether you became a painter, a dancer, a writer, whatever required focused and repeated practice,  similarly if you wish to move ahead in your spiritual practice, the first step will be to assign some time from your daily schedule for your personal sadhana, so we need to take out some time every day   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=233   7  how much time should we take out Swamiji ? According to the Vedas, one tenth of your time is prescribed for sadhana, one tenth means roughly two hours - that is the prescribed time. Now two hours seems impossible in the modern scenario, at least take out one hour, make a firm resolve from today onwards whatever happens I will definitely allot this one hour for my own soul. Now what do you do in this one hour or two hours   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=283   8  what is the sadhana that is to be done ? Navadha bhakti is very popular, the nine-fold processes of devotion this was stated by Prahlada maharaj in the Srimad-Bhagavatam, seventh canto, fifth chapter 23rd verse  vide https://vedabase.io/en/library/sb/7/5/23-24/ and it was highlighted by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.  Now you can do any of these nine-fold processes of devotion, worshipping the lord in His deity form, offering prayers, chanting His names, serving etc  so you do any of these nine fold processes of devotion but one of these nine is compulsory, without that one it is all one big zero. What is that one  - smaranam, means remembrance because ultimately the mind needs to be purified, so in your sadhana you have to take your mind to God   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=330   9  so how do we do smaranam, how do we remember God, that is what Jagat guru Shri Kripaluji Maharaj always Emphasized, he said do Roop dhyan. What is Roop dhyan ? Bring the image of God before you, now the mind will have a basis to rest upon, like for example, you remember somebody in the world, where is that person who that one who's come from Fort Worth ?  So many have come from Fort Worth, that tall guy, see he's brought his image to mind “the tall person” tell me little more, that darkish complexion Ramesh, so before taking the name of Ramesh, he brought the image of Ramesh to his mind   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=433   10  similarly when you are saying Sita Ram, when you are saying Radhey Shyam, you are recalling the lord, before that bring His image to your mind and now take the name, the mind now has a basis for devotion for love  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=500   11  now here people raise some objections, they say Swamiji, i have never seen God, how will I meditate upon Him, see god is causelessly merciful, He says visualize Me as you wish and increase your love, increase your attachment to Me, that's all that's required, visualize Me as you like, come to the state of “mam ekam sharanam vraja”, complete surrender,  when you reach that state I will bestow My grace, and by My grace when I give that power in your mind, that is called Shuddha Sattva, when that is added to the mind, your mind will become divine and with that divine mind you will not have to imagine God, you will see Him as He is, when will that happen after God  realization  when He gives you the power and before  that what you do ?  Before that, God says don't worry  just visualize Me as you wish now   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=521   12   somebody says, Swamiji that image of  Radha Krishna in the temple, I just love  It,  can i meditate on it ? sure  somebody says that image of Shri Krishna  in the painting in my friend's house is  very  Enchanting, can I meditate on it ?  sure  but make one correction,   meditate on the living God,  in other words let Him come out of the  image,  let him come out of the deity, the deity  is the basis  and you bring God out from there,  He's  talking, He's walking, His hands and feet  are  moving , after all God is not insentient (incapable of feeling or understanding thing),  He is supremely sentient,  so with the basis of the deity, basis of  the picture,  you engage in your devotion  meditating on the Supreme Lord in  naturality,  He is coming to me, i'm coming to Him,   then you will never get bored  and if your meditation is that the Lord  just stands with His four hands, holding  the  chakra and He practically doesn't do  anything,  then you will say, God is very boring, my  little child is more interesting, the  mind will go there,  sadhana doesn't have to be boring    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=614   13   the Lord is the ocean of bliss,  enliven your sadhana,  He has all varieties of rasa,  Saukumarya ( the quality of being soft, tender; softness; tenderness), Saushilya ( "good conduct and behavior," "goodnaturedness," or "possession of a good disposition or temper"), Saurasya (Tastiness, savoriness, sapidity (having a strong, pleasant tast), well-flavoredness), Roop Madhuri (beautiful & loving Face),   Murli Madhuri (plays loving flute),  Leela Madhuri (His acts are enchanting),  utilize all that so we have done the  first step,  now you have His image in front   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=711   14   Further, you can even meditate  upon His pastimes,  He is in Vrindavan, He's playing with His  friends,  I'm watching that divine pastime.  See, to take the mind to God, you utilize  His name and image,  but that's also not enough, the mind  wants  activity, so meditate on His pastimes,  the pastimes of the Lord are so  enchanting   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=736   15   After that, meditate on the qualities, the  virtues of God,  He is the ocean of bliss, He is my  eternal father,  He is my soul beloved, bring these  qualities to your mind again  and again and again and then  you can even serve Him in the mind -  there He is, I am pressing His feet, I am  bathing Him, I am feeding Him,  this is the manasi seva (serving God in mind) - in this way,  in a natural way, you take your mind  to God   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=772   16   now as  a helper for this sadhana, there's  another thing you can do  and that is kirtan,  sing it while your ears hear,  and with the mind meditate, initially  when you do meditation,  you don't get the bliss of God,   that is why the kirtan is helpful  the music the aroh, the avroh  (Aaroh is the ascending order of musical notes, in the same way Avroh is the descending order of musical notes)   different names, different qualities of  God,  they all keep coming, they help keep your  mind engaged   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=810   17   but remember in the kirtan, the most  important is the  remembrance, chanting and hearing,  when we keep on doing  like this  this will bring us to a higher state of  meditation,  when will I see Him,  when will the day come when He will  manifest here and give His darshan  to me, in other words now  the mind and the senses  which were longing for the world have  started  longing for God, that is the sign of  purification   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=856   18   but the sadhana is not complete, keep on  longing,  that longing will result in the heart  melting, now  you will feel helpless, I wish to meet  Him but I have no means,  so seeing yourself as  shelterless, you then cry out to Him,   for His grace, those  tears you shed in loving devotion to God,  they cleanse the heart of  endless lifetimes of dirt.  Tears and loving devotion for God  will cleanse the mind   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=907   19   but your sadhana is still not  complete, carry on  until you come to that point which  Chaitanya Mahaprabhu,  He says now without having darshan of  Shri Krishna,  the whole world is seeming void,   one moment in waiting has become  like an age  long and tears are constantly  showering from the eyes, that will be the  state  of antahkaran shudhi,  purification of the heart,  that is the stage for which God  and guru are waiting, when we prepare our  heart “vessel” to that point   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=955   20   when we cleanse our heart up to that  stage,  then we have reached the “mam ekam  sharanam vraja”, complete surrender.  Now God's grace will come, the divine  grace that we are seeking  and when that comes what will happen,  the afflictions (something that causes pain or suffering) of the material energy  they will all be wiped off our  karmas,   karmas of endless lifetimes God will  burn them,  we will become complete with His  Love, His bliss and His knowledge,  in other words we will now be united  with Him,  as long as we live in this body  we will be in the “jeevan mukt” stage  and when we leave this body, we will go  to His divine Abode,  to eternally participate in His nithya  leelas,  His divine pastimes, so this  is the path to happiness   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_xK0di1rJI&t=1023

Transcript 0:00 we discussed that we are all 0:04 tiny parts of god 0:07 who is an ocean of bliss 0:11 hence we have the inherent urge to be 0:14 blissful and we cannot rest 0:18 contented until we get such 0:21 bliss which is infinite in extent 0:27 which is ever fresh and 0:30 once attained it will never be snatched 0:33 away from us 0:35 that is the satchit anand of god 0:40 that bliss will be attained when we 0:43 attain 0:44 god himself in order to attain 0:48 god we will have to go beyond the 0:52 purview of our senses 0:54 mind and intellect because he is 0:58 divine beyond the material realm 1:02 and hence we must not harbor this 1:05 vanity that by our intellectual 1:09 analysis we will be able to fathom god 1:13 he is only known when he bestows 1:17 his grace and grants 1:21 to the soul his divine intellect 1:26 on receiving god's power 1:29 any fortunate soul can see him 1:33 hear him reach him 1:36 think of him know him and 1:40 attain him however 1:43 god's grace is not a whimsical act 1:47 from his side we will need to do 1:50 something to attract his 1:54 mercy what will we need to do 1:57 we discussed his eternal law 2:01 he graces those who surrender to him 2:05 yesterday we discussed that it is the 2:08 mind which needs to be surrendered 2:12 for the mind is the cause of bondage and 2:15 the mind is the cause of liberation 2:19 our mind is presently attached to the 2:22 world 2:24 if we are aspiring to attain god 2:28 realization 2:30 we must deeply contemplate how to detach 2:33 the mind from the world 2:37 and we discussed this will require 2:40 us to understand 2:43 that the happiness of our soul is not in 2:47 material objects 2:50 when the intellect holds this 2:53 discrimination 2:54 this vivek it will then develop 2:57 the power to pull the mind away 3:01 from the world just like you pull your 3:05 mind away from a cup of poison 3:08 even though it is very tasteful for you 3:11 know it has 3:12 the ability to kill you  3:15 hence shri krishna said in the 3:18 bhagavad-gita 3:24 arjun repeatedly think 3:27 of the defects of this world its 3:30 miseries and 3:32 torments your mind will then 3:35 come away from it 3:38 but the mind coming away is only 3:42 half the story the second half 3:46 is how now to attach 3:49 this mind to god this requires 3:53 practice just like 3:57 in the material realm you mastered 4:01 so many skills whether you became a 4:04 graduate a post graduate whether you 4:06 became a painter 4:08 a dancer a writer whatever 4:12 required focused and repeated 4:16 practice similarly 4:20 if you wish to move ahead in your 4:23 spiritual 4:24 practice the first 4:28 step will be to assign 4:31 some time from your daily schedule 4:36 for your personal sadhana 4:39 so we need to take out some time every 4:42 day 4:43 how much time should we take out swamiji 4:47 according to the vedas one 4:50 tenth of your time is prescribed for 4:53 sadhana one tenth means roughly two 4:56 hours 4:57 that is the prescribed time now two 5:00 hours seems 5:01 impossible in the modern scenario 5:05 at least take out one hour 5:10 make a firm resolve from today onwards 5:16 whatever happens i will definitely 5:20 allot this one hour for my own soul 5:25 now what do you do in this one hour or 5:27 two hours 5:30 what is the sadhana that is to be done 5:33 navadha bhakti is very popular 5:38 the nine-fold processes of devotion 5:50 this was stated by prahlada maharaja in 5:53 the srimad-bhagavatam 5:55 seventh canto fifth chapter 23rd verse 5:59 and it was highlighted by chaitanya 6:04 mahaprabhu 6:17 became extremely popular 6:21 now you can do any of these nine-fold 6:24 processes of devotion worshipping 6:28 the lord in his deity form offering 6:31 prayers 6:32 chanting his names serving 6:35 etc  6:38 so you do any of these nine fold 6:42 processes of devotion 6:44 but one of these nine is 6:48 compulsory without that one 6:53 it is all one big zero 6:57 what is that one smaranam 7:02 means remembrance because 7:05 ultimately the mind needs to be purified 7:09 so in your sadhana you have to take your 7:13 mind 7:13 to god so how do we do smaranam 7:19 how do we remember god that is what 7:23 jagat guru shri kripaluji maharaj always 7:26 emphasized he said do 7:30 Roop dhyan what is 7:33 Roop dhyan bring the image of 7:36 god before you 7:39 now the mind will have a basis to rest 7:43 upon 7:45 like for example you remember somebody 7:49 in the world 7:50 where is that person who 7:54 that one who's come from Fort Worth 7:57 so many have come from Fort Worth that 7:59 tall 8:00 guy see he's brought his image to my 8:03 tall 8:04 person tell me little more 8:07 that darkish complexion 8:10 ramesh so before taking the name of 8:14 ramesh 8:15 he brought the image of ramesh to his 8:18 Mind  8:20 similarly when you are saying sitaram 8:24 when you are saying radhey shyam you are 8:27 recalling the lord 8:29 before that bring his image to your mind 8:34 and now take the name the mind now 8:37 has a basis for devotion 8:41 for love now here people raise some 8:45 objections 8:47 they say swamiji i have never seen god 8:51 how will i meditate upon him see god 8:54 is causelessly merciful 8:57 he says visualize me 9:00 as you wish 9:04 and increase your love increase your 9:07 attachment that's all that's required 9:11 visualize me as you like 9:14 come to the state of “mam ekam sharanam vraja” 9:18 complete surrender when you reach that 9:22 state 9:23 i will bestow my grace 9:27 and by my grace when i give that 9:31 power in your mind that is called 9:33 shuddha sattva 9:39 when that is added to the mind 9:43 your mind will become divine 9:46 and with that divine mind you 9:50 will not have to imagine god 9:53 you will see him as he is 9:58 when will that happen after god 10:01 realization 10:02 when he gives you the power and before 10:06 that what you do 10:07 before that god says don't worry 10:10 just visualize me as you wish now 10:14 somebody says swamiji that image of 10:18 radha krishna in the temple i just love 10:21 it 10:22 can i meditate on it sure 10:26 somebody says that image of shri krishna 10:29 in the painting in my friend's house is 10:32 very 10:32 enchanting can i meditate on it sure 10:36 but make one correction 10:40 meditate on the living god 10:44 in other words let him come out of the 10:47 image 10:48 let him come out of the deity the deity 10:51 is the basis 10:53 and you bring god out from there he's 10:56 talking he's walking his hands and feet 10:59 are 11:00 moving after all god is not insentient 11:04 he is supremely sentient 11:08 so with the basis of the deity basis of 11:11 the picture 11:12 you engage in your devotion 11:15 meditating on the supreme lord in 11:19 naturality 11:20 he is coming to me i'm coming to him 11:24 then you will never get bored 11:28 and if your meditation is that the lord 11:31 just stands with his four hands holding 11:33 the 11:34 chakra and he practically doesn't do 11:37 anything 11:40 then you will say god is very boring my 11:43 little child is more interesting the 11:45 mind will go there 11:47 sadhana doesn't have to be boring 11:51 the lord is the ocean of bliss 11:55 enliven your sadhana 11:58 he has all varieties of rasa 12:02 saukumarya saushilya saurasya roop madhuri 12:06 murli madhuri Leela madhuri 12:08 utilize all that so we have done the 12:11 first step 12:12 now you have his image in front  12:16 further you can even meditate 12:19 upon his pastimes 12:24 he is in vrindavan he's playing with his 12:28 friends 12:29 i'm watching that divine pastime 12:34 see to take the mind to god you utilize 12:38 his name and image 12:41 but that's also not enough the mind 12:44 wants 12:44 activity so meditate on his pastimes 12:48 the pastimes of the lord are so 12:51 Enchanting  12:52 after that meditate on the qualities the 12:56 virtues of god 12:59 he is the ocean of bliss he is my 13:02 eternal father 13:04 he is my soul beloved bring these 13:08 qualities to your mind again 13:11 and again and again and then 13:14 you can even serve him in the mind 13:17 there he is i'm pressing his feet i'm 13:20 bathing him i'm feeding him 13:22 this is the manasi seva (serving God in mind) in this way 13:26 in a natural way you take your mind 13:30 to god now as 13:34 a helper for this sadhana there's 13:37 another thing you can do 13:39 and what is that that is kirtan 13:44 chanting take some kirtan 13:48 sing it with your ears hear 13:51 and with the mind meditate initially 13:55 when you do meditation 13:57 you don't get the bliss of god 14:00 that is why the kirtan is helpful 14:04 the music the aroh, the avroh 14:07 different names different qualities of 14:09 god 14:10 they all keep coming they help keep your 14:13 mind engaged 14:16 but remember in the kirtan the most 14:20 important is the 14:23 remembrance chanting and hearing 14:26 will help you and when we keep on doing 14:30 like this 14:32 this will bring us to a higher state of 14:35 meditation 14:39 when will i see him 14:43 when will the day come when he will 14:46 manifest here and give his darshan 14:49 to me in other words now 14:53 the mind and the senses 14:56 which were longing for the world have 14:58 started 14:59 longing for god that is the sign of 15:03 purification  15:07 but the sadhana is not complete keep on 15:09 longing 15:11 that longing will result in the heart 15:15 melting now 15:19 you will feel helpless i wish to meet 15:21 him but i have no means 15:23 so seeing yourself as 15:26 shelterless you then cry out to him 15:30 for his grace those 15:33 tears you shed in loving devotion to god 15:39 they cleanse the heart of 15:42 endless lifetimes of dirt 15:48 tears and loving devotion for god 15:52 will cleanse the mind  15:55 but your sadhana is still not 15:58 complete carry on 16:03 until you come to that point which 16:06 chaitanya mahaprabhu's 16:21 he says now without having darshan of 16:25 sri krishna 16:27 the whole world is seeming void 16:32 one moment in waiting has become 16:35 like an age 16:36 long and tears are constantly 16:41 showering from the eyes that will be the 16:45 state 16:46 of antahkaran shudhi 16:49 purification of the heart 16:53 that is the stage for which god 16:56 and guru are waiting when we prepare our 17:00 vessel to that point  17:03 when we cleanse our heart up to that 17:06 stage 17:07 then we have reached the mam ekam 17:11 sharanam vraja complete surrender 17:14 now god's grace will come the divine 17:18 grace that we are seeking 17:22 and when that comes what will happen 17:45 the afflictions of the material energy 17:51 they will all be wiped off our 17:54 karmas 17:59 karmas of endless lifetimes god will 18:02 burn them 18:08 we will become complete with his 18:11 love his bliss and his knowledge 18:15 in other words we will now be united 18:18 with him 18:20 as long as we live in this body 18:24 we will be the jeevan mukt stage 18:28 and when we leave this body we will go 18:31 to his divine Abode 18:33 to eternally participate in his nithya 18:37 leelah 18:38 his divine pastimes so this 18:42 is the path to happiness Standby link (in case youtube link does not work): The Most Eye Opening 19 minutes that will CHANGE your life FOREVER Swami Mukundananda.mp4

In this episode it needs to be extracted and consumed, the final Topic in this series is ekant sadhna, practice of spirituality in isolation  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=0  2 Benefits of Daily Spiritual Practice What is the benefit of it ? Just like a sedentary (sitting most of the time) worker needs to do physical exercise to sustain their health, otherwise sitting for long hours becomes as dangerous as smoking, likewise we need to tend to the mind because all day long it is subjected to wear and as we interact with the mind so for some time, we need to shut off the external distractions go within ourselves and lift up the mind to our aspired spiritual heights  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=48  3 Story of Lord Jagannath - Power of Bhakti Imagine the heights of the siddhas. One of the greatest poet-saints in Sanskrit literature has been Jaidev Goswami. He resided for many years in the holy city of Jaganath Puri and he was an ardent (enthusiastic or passionate) devotee of Radha Krishna. Once he had a vision of Shri Krishna sitting by the stream that was flowing between the mountains whilst He played an enchanting melody on His flute and that inspired him to write one of the most epic poetries of Sanskrit, the Geet Govind which has got 12 chapters  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=94   4  a few decades after Jaidev Goswami had attained the samadhi, one malini, a gardener lady early morning while plucking vegetables from the garden used to sing the Geet Govind verses that she had memorized in an enchanting melody. Jagannath Bhagawan in his Temple would become restless and He would walk behind the lady, unknown to her, listening to that Geet Govind. Consequently, His clothes would get dirty, sometimes His shawl would get stuck in the rose bush etc. This got noticed by the priests who came to do the morning puja and the news reached the Raja of Puri, he inquired into the matter  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=145  5  Finally Lord Jagannath, as an act of grace came in the Raja's dream and informed him “I love the Geet Govind that the malani sings, so I follow her in the garden to hear it. The Raja was astounded by what he saw in the dream and he decided to write poetry himself as well  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=204  6  However, when his poetry was learned and recited by people, it did not have the impact of Jaidev Goswami and that made the Raja really miserable he decided to end his life by jumping into the sea, when Jaganath Mahaprabhu again came in his dream and said, “look don't worry 12 verses from your writing will be added and attached to the beginning of the Geet Govind”  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=234  7  but imagine the power of that poetry and the siddh saint who created it. What sadhna did the souls do to reach such levels of siddhi. Soordas, Tulsidas, Mirabai, Tukaram, Narsi Mehta, Eknath - what mantras did they recite and how did they do the intonations (संगीत का ताल) in the sat swars? None of this. It was a spontaneous love the Raganuga sadhna, which led to the Ragatmika bhakti (meaning vide httraasorgopi.blogspot.com/2020/01/blog-post.htmlhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=270  8  A story on How to Develop Bhakti? here is a humorous story. On the banks of the river Narmada, a scholar arrived but he found that very few people were interested in listening to his discourses, the majority of the people would go across the river Narmada where three sadhus stayed and they would love the association of the sadhus  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=313  9  How Long should we do Spiritual Practice? so we would like to learn a simple powerful spiritual discipline. Let's understand it step by step. The first question is for how long should we do our daily sadhna. Well, the scriptures recommend for 2 hours every day, that is one tenth of your time, just as they recommend giving away one tenth of your earnings in charity to purify your wealth, likewise God has given you 24 hours, take out 2 hours for him but because in modern life, the demands have become so much I say all right, just take out one hour but make a resolve I will definitely do so. And if you say Swami you've said it, I've have heard it, that will not work - you need to take the practical steps  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=443  10  What is the best time for spiritual practice? so what is the best time for this sadhana? Well, the Brahma Mahurat is recommended - these are the two early morning hours before Sunrise till sunrise as a rough guideline - that morning time is ideal because the environment is calm, the atmosphere is clean, you have just woken up from Sleep, your mind is composed & it will be easy to focus it upon the supreme but if you say I am busy in the morning taking care of household chores etc, never mind, you find some other time or split it up half in the morning, half in the evening, set up your daily routine as per your needs and requirements   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=508  11  What posture to sit in spiritual practice? so in which posture should I sit for sadhna ? The sadhna that I'm going to relate does not require one particular Asana, Maharishi Patanjali himself has said, sit comfortably but sit alert so that sleep does not overwhelm you. Apart from that you could be in Sukhasana, Ardh Padmasan, Padmasan or Dhyana Veerasana, Vajrasana, if somebody has got the knee ache you could sit on a chair as well  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=571  12  What should you do in spiritual practice? now what should we do in sadhna ? The first spiritual practice cultivates self-awareness - this is the launching pad where you take stock of your shortcomings, your present state and remind yourself of the big picture of your life, where you need to be and what is the course to take you there, so practice self-awareness, for this you can even use a spiritual workbook or a journal  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=612  13  The second spiritual sadhana : cultivate dispassion or vairagya by repeatedly reminding yourself that you are not the body, you are the soul, hence your happiness is not in worldly things it is in God, besides worldly things are temporary, besides you have created desires for them so many times and fulfilled them but the thirst of the soul was not satiated (satisfied), revise this again and again  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=651  14  Third spiritual discipline: cultivate your relationship with God, remind yourself he is the Anshi I am the ansh, He is waiting for me with open arms since endless lifetimes, He is my true relative, my eternal relative and my selfless benefactor, now contemplate over this repeatedly  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=688  15  next spiritual practice: take any gem of knowledge and think about it deeply, to internalize it. As I always say, even one gem of wisdom when deeply pondered upon, has the ability to transform your life   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=717  16  next spiritual practice:  Roop dhyan  meditation, now you want to absorb your mind in the Supreme, so as we discussed in the last episode, bring His image before you and to it you can add meditation on the leelas of your Lord, plus you can also serve Him in the mind  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=743  17  next spiritual discipline : contemplate upon the numerous virtues of The Supreme beloved. Our mind is attracted to virtues, when you see qualities in someone, you say O what a simple genuine guy, o what a kindhearted person, so on so forth, now God has got innumerable qualities to enchant the mind, then why is it that our mind is reluctant to get attached to Shri Krishna ? The reason is a deficiency of contemplation on those virtues - we will need to think about that again and again and again  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=777  18  next discipline: cultivate a deep longing for your Lord, when will I see Him ? When will I hear His flute ? When will I relish the opportunity to participate in His nitya leela and serve him personally and so on. This longing is the very life of sadhna  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=839  19  Chaitanya Mahaprabhu called it param Vyakulta, Jagadguru Nimbarkacharya called it  Nishreyas, Vallabhcharya called it Sadhan Heenata, the Brajwasis call it laalsa, Jagat Guru Shankaracharya termed it as mumukshutva, Jagat Guru Ramanujacharya called it Tap, Narad ji in his Bhakti Darshan says cultivate the longing and with that yearning, shed tears crying out for His grace  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=872  20  Spirituality for Beginners : now we have just touched upon the different possible spiritual disciplines which were detailed in previous episodes. In this series, you utilize one of them, all of them, change from one to the other. These are simple disciplines yet they can still seem daunting to beginners. How do I do it so to make it easy for the masses ?   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=919  21  the Saints and scriptures gave one solution, they said do kirtans (singing glories of God). Kirtan will provide an external support for your inner contemplation, reflection and meditation. The Saints have written varieties of prayers and descriptions of the Nam, Roop, Leela, Gun, Dham of God in their bajans, kirtans and padas, so when you sing it, your ears engage in hearing it, alongside the mind is used for contemplation - this becomes the Tridha Bhakti  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=959  22  3 Fold Devotion: Kirtan, Shravan and Smaran, this Tridha Bhakti is the prescribed form in this age of Kaliyuga “Whatever result was obtained in Satya-yuga by meditating on Vishnu, in Treta-yuga by performing sacrifices, and in Dvapara-yuga by serving the Lord's lotus feet can be obtained in Kali-yuga simply by chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra” - Vedvyas writes in Srimad Bhagavatam, 12.03.52  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=1011  23  3 Fold Devotion: “In this age of Kalyug, there is no other means like yoga, yagya, chanting, penance, fasting and worship etc. One should simply remember Shree Ram, sing the praises of Shree Ram and constantly listen to the praises of Shree Ram”  (Ramacharitamanasa, Tulsidas) these varieties of sadhna will not be sufficiently effective in Kaliyug, Therefore so take the support of this Tridha Bhakti ,i.e., Remember Him, Do Kirtan, Do Shravan  ,i.e., chanting, hearing and remembering God, with the help of this you move from one spiritual discipline to the other  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9UDyrD51p4&t=1039

5:16 story on the banks of the Narmada a scholar 5:21 arrived but he found that very few 5:24 people were interested in listening to 5:26 his 5:27 discourses the majority of the people 5:30 would go across the river Narmada where 5:33 three sadhus stayed and they would love 5:38 the association of the sadhus The Scholar 5:41 was intrigued by what was so attractive 5:45 about them he went over to meet them but 5:49 did not find anything impressive and 5:52 then he asked them how do you pray they 5:56 were hesitant to share but when he 5:59 insisted they said Pandit ji we don't 6:02 know any 6:03 prayers all we say is bhagavan you are 6:07 three Shankar Brahma Vishnu we are also 6:10 three please bless us and bestow Your 6:15 Grace The Scholar guffawed in laughter is 6:18 that the way to pray you are three we 6:20 are three you need to learn all these 6:24 mantras the right words to do the 6:28 renunciation etc so he taught them a 6:31 complex prayer this overwhelmed them 6:35 nevertheless they believed in the 6:37 authority of the scholar having thought 6:41 he had done their welfare he returned 6:45 while he was still crossing the Narmada he 6:48 found a storm coming towards him his 6:52 boat he said what is this there was no 6:55 storm around and then he saw that the 6:58 three sadhus were walking on the river 7:02 coming to meet him and they said Maharaj 7:07 that prayer you taught us we have 7:09 forgotten can you please repeat it once 7:13 again he said never mind just carry on 7:16 praying as you were praying he realized 7:19 that they were far ahead of anything 7:23 that he had to offer them so we would 7:28 like to learn a simple powerful 7:32 spiritual 7:34 discipline let's understand it step by 7:38 step the first question for how long How Long should we do Spiritual Practice? 7:42 should we do our daily 7:45 sadhna well the scriptures recommend for 2 7:49 hours every day that is one tenth of 7:53 your time just as they recommend giving 7:58 away one tenth of your earnings in 8:01 charity to purify your wealth likewise 8:05 God has given you 24 hours take out 2 8:09 hours for him but because in Modern Life 8:13 the demands have become so much I say 8:16 all right just take out one hour but 8:19 make a resolve I will definitely do so 8:23 and if you say Swami you've said it I've 8:25 have heard it that will not work you 8:28 need to take the Practical steps so what What is the best time for spiritual practice? 8:33 is the best time for this sadhana well 8:36 the Brahma Mahurat is 8:39 recommended these are the two early 8:42 morning hours before Sunrise till 8:47 sunrise as a rough 8:50 guideline that morning time is ideal 8:55 because the environment is calm the 8:58 atmosphere 8:59 is clean you have just woken up from 9:03 sleep your mind is composed it will be 9:08 easy to focus it upon the supreme but if 9:13 you say you know I am busy in the 9:15 morning taking care of household chores 9:18 Etc never mind you find some other time 9:21 or split it up half in the morning half 9:24 in the evening set up your daily routine 9:28 as per your needs and 9:31 requirements okay so in which posture What posture to sit in spiritual practice? 9:34 should I sit for 9:36 sadhna the sadhna that I'm going to relate 9:40 does not require one particular 9:46 asana Maharishi Patanjali himself has 9:50 said sit comfortably but sit 9:54 alert so that sleep does not overwhelm 9:59 you apart from that you could be in 10:02 sukhasana 10:06 Ardh Padmasan, Padmasan or Dhyana Veerāsana, Vajrāsana, if somebody has got the knee ache 10:10 you could sit on a chair as well What should you do in spiritual practice? 10:12 now what should we do in 10:14 sadhna the first spiritual 10:18 practice cultivates self-awareness 10:22 this is the launching 10:25 pad where you take stock of your 10:28 shortcomings your present State and 10:32 remind yourself of the big picture of 10:35 your life where you need to be and what 10:39 is the course to take you there so 10:44 practice self-awareness for this you can 10:47 even use a spiritual workbook or a 10:51 journal the second spiritual 10:55 sadhana cultivate dispassion or Vairagya by 11:01 repeatedly reminding yourself you are 11:04 not the body you are the soul hence your 11:07 happiness is not in worldly things it is 11:09 in God besides worldly things are 11:12 temporary besides you have created 11:16 desires for them so many times and 11:19 fulfilled them but the thirst of the 11:21 Soul was not 11:23 satiated revise this again and again 11:28 third spiritual 11:30 discipline cultivate your relationship 11:33 with God remind yourself he is the Anshi I 11:37 am the ansh he is waiting for me with 11:41 open arms since endless lifetimes he is 11:46 my true relative my eternal relative and 11:50 my selfless 11:53 benefactor now contemplate over this 11:57 repeatedly next spiritual 12:01 practice take any Gem of knowledge and 12:05 think about it deeply to internalize it 12:10 as I always say even one Gem of wisdom 12:15 when deeply pondered upon has the ability 12:19 to 12:20 transform your 12:23 life next spiritual 12:27 practice do 12:30 Roop dhyan  12:32 meditation now you want to absorb your 12:36 mind in the Supreme so as we discussed 12:39 in the last episode bring his image 12:43 before 12:44 you and to it you can add meditation on 12:49 the leelas of your 12:52 lord plus you can also serve him in the 12:57 mind next 12:59 spiritual 13:01 discipline 13:02 contemplate upon the numerous 13:07 Virtues Of The Supreme 13:10 beloved our mind is attracted to 13:15 virtues when you see qualities in 13:18 someone you say O what a 13:21 simple genuine 13:23 guy o what a kindhearted person so on 13:28 so forth 13:30 now God has got 13:32 innumerable 13:34 qualities to enchant the mind then why 13:38 is it that our mind is 13:40 reluctant to get attached to Shri 13:44 Krishna the reason is a deficiency of 13:48 contemplation on those virtues we will 13:52 need to think about that again and again 13:57 and again 13:59 next 14:01 discipline cultivate a deep longing for 14:06 your 14:07 lord how is that when will I see him 14:12 when will I hear his 14:15 flute when will I relish the opportunity 14:19 to participate in his nitya Leela and 14:22 serve him personally and so on this 14:27 longing is the very life of 14:32 sadhna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu called it param 14:37 vyakulta Jagadguru Nimbārkāchārya called it  14:43 Nishreyas, Vallabhcharya called it 14:47 Sadhan Heenata the Brajwasis call it 14:52 laalsa Jagat Guru 14:54 Shankaracharya termed it as mumukshutva 14:59 Jagat Guru Ramanujacharya called it Tap 15:02 Narad ji in his Bhakti Darshan 15:08 says cultivate the longing and with that 15:14 yearning shed tears crying out for his 15:19 grace now we have just touched upon the 15:24 different possible spiritual disciplines 15:28 which were detailed in previous episodes 15:32 in this 15:33 series you utilize one of them all of 15:37 them change from one to the 15:40 other these are simple Spirituality for Beginners 15:44 disciplines yet they can still seem 15:48 daunting to 15:51 beginners 15:53 oh how do I do it so to make it easy for 15:58 the masses  15:59 the Saints and scriptures gave one 16:03 solution they said do 16:14 Kirtans Kirtan will provide an external support 16:19 for your inner contemplation reflection 16:23 and 16:24 meditation the Saints have written 16:26 varieties of prayers and descriptions of 16:30 the Nam Roop Leela Gun Dham of God in 16:34 their bajans kirtans and Padas so when you 16:38 sing it your ears engage in hearing it 16:44 alongside the mind is used for 16:48 contemplation this becomes the Tridha Bhakti  3 Fold Devotion 16:51 Kirtan, Shravan and 16:55 Smaran this 16:57 Tridha Bhakti is the prescribed form in this 17:02 age of 17:13 Kali Whatever result was obtained in Satya-yuga by meditating on Vishnu, in Tretā-yuga by performing sacrifices, and in Dvāpara-yuga by serving the Lord's lotus feet can be obtained in Kali-yuga simply by chanting the Hare Krishņa mahā-mantra. Vedvyas writes in Srimad Bhagavatam, 12.03.52 17:19 In this age of Kalyug, there is no other means like yoga, yagya, chanting, penance, fasting and worship etc. One should simply remember Shree Ram, sing the praises of Shree Ram and constantly listen to the praises of Shree Ram 17:19/23:01 3 Fold Devotion >  (Ramacharitamānasa, Tulsidas) 17:25 these varieties of sadhna 17:29 will not be sufficiently effective in Kaliyug 17:35 Then Remember Him, Do Kirtan, Do Shravan  17:46 , so take the support of this Tridha Bhakti 17:50 thisi chanting hearing and remembering 17:55 and with the help of this you move from 17:59 one spiritual discipline to the other  18:02 the aim of it all will be to deepen your 18:07 longing for the 18:10 Lord and that longing will 18:14 grow till the point the whole world 18:18 appears 18:20 void let's read about it from the The Result of Spiritual Practice 18:24 spiritual Secrets 18:26 book when we apply our 18:29 ourselves to the various spiritual 18:33 practices the yearning to meet Radha  18:36 Krishna will start 18:39 growing this will purify our mind even 18:44 further and that will increase the 18:47 longing even 18:49 more which will further cleanse the 18:54 mind this cascading effect will result 18:59 in an intense yearning for Darshan Prem and 19:07 Seva this yearning of the heart is called 19:12 virah it will grow so deep that it will 19:16 burn away all remaining 19:19 impurities a stage will arrive when the 19:23 entire world will appear void without 19:28 God 19:29 Chaitanya Mahaprabhu described this in his Shikshashtkam: In longing for Shree Krishna, a single moment is appearing an age long; tears are constantly streaming from my eyes; and the whole world is appearing void 19:44 in longing for Shri Krishna a 19:49 single moment is appearing an age long 19:52 tears are constantly streaming from my 19:56 eyes and the whole world is appearing 20:00 void that will be the state of complete 20:04 surrender “mām ekam sharaņam vraja” 20:07 it will be the ripened state of our 20:11 sadhana where the heart will be 20:14 completely cleansed it is the stage for 20:19 which God and Guru are waiting then 20:23 without asking they will bestow bhagavat 20:27 Prem Divine love when we receive it the 20:33 bonds of Maya will be cut asunder The fetters of the heart are broken, all doubts are resolved and all works cease to bear fruit, when He is beheld who is both high and low.
