Main Points: 1  The Limitations of Knowledge: Merely by knowing how roti and sabji are made your stomach is not fed, merely by having the knowledge of a king, you do not become a king.  We need to understand the limitations of knowledge. Knowledge is a limited spiritual means.  If you have read the cook book and memorize it, will it fill your stomach ? You have the knowledge but it is not serving any purpose so that is why our shastras say this “verse” you may become ShatShastri (knower of the six maior schools of Vedic philosophy) a knower of:  the Nigam (another name for Vedas),  Agama (Agama Shastras are a non-Vedic collection of scriptures that are followed in Shaivism, Vaishnavism, and Shaktism. They provide instruction on yoga and self-realization, Agama texts describe cosmology, epistemology (distinction between justified belief and opinion), philosophical doctrines, precepts on meditation and practices, four kinds of yoga, mantras, temple construction, deity worship and ways to attain sixfold desires)

and

Vyakaran ( the study of Sanskrit grammar and linguistic analysis, and is one of the six Vedangas, or ancillary sciences, of the Vedas. The word vyakarana literally means "explanation" or "analysis") And you may have the knowledge of all the libraries of the world in your head but it will still be of no use to you. This is only theoretical knowledge. What helps you is practical realization.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IO994PxAB6c&t=0  2  The Key to God Realization You see, there is one theoretical knowledge, and there is one practical realization Theoretical knowledge in itself is not going to help, in fact it can even increase your pride, avidya. “verse”  Kathopanishad has come down very strongly that those, who know the karma kand, they may think that I am a great pandit but it will not work because the practical realization is necessary because the Knowledge that helps you attain God is the inner knowledge which creates faith.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IO994PxAB6c&t=90  3   The Guru's Instruction: The Guruji instructs his disciple to bring offerings for the temple puja on time.

The Disciple's Challenge: The disciple faces a logistical challenge: the boatman isn't available until 8 AM, delaying her arrival.

The Guru's Spiritual Guidance: Guruji advises her that with the power of "Bhagwan Naam" (the name of God Lord Ram), she can overcome the obstacle.

The Disciple's Faith and Success: The disciple, with unwavering faith in her Guru's words, successfully crosses the river by chanting the name of Lord Ram.

The Guru's Test: The Guruji, despite giving the instruction, lacks the same level of faith when he attempts to cross the river himself.

The Importance of Faith: The story highlights that while knowledge is important, true realization and success depend on having faith in the teachings and applying them with conviction.

Key Takeaways:

Faith is Essential: True spiritual progress requires unwavering faith in the teachings and guidance of the Guru or the divine.

Knowledge Without Faith is Inert: Mere intellectual understanding is insufficient without the accompanying faith to put it into practice.

The Power of Divine Grace: The story suggests that the power of the divine can manifest when approached with genuine faith and devotion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IO994PxAB6c&t=137  4  So what helps us is not just words but the faith (shraddha) & the faith comes through the inner realization. That is why it is said that “पढ़ने की हद समझ है और समझन की हद है ज्ञान, ज्ञान की हद हरिनाम है, प्रेम नाम हद जान”  You keep reading reading reading, it leads to understanding, you keep understanding, it leads to wisdom, through the wisdom, you develop faith in the Name of God. God is sitting inside His Name and I can just take His Name and the consequence of taking His Name is prem “प्रेम नाम हद जान”.  So, what we need is faith  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IO994PxAB6c&t=259
