Your Mind's Eye - Seeing Shree Krishna in Everyone, BG 6.9 by Swami Mukundanand
https://youtu.be/eQglLvcXK5I Full Text 1 Bhagavad Gita Chapter 6 Sloka 9 Translation: The yogis look upon all well wishers, friends, foes, the pious and the sinners with an impartial intellect, the yogi who is of equal intellect towards friend, companion and foe, neutral among enemies and relatives and unbiased between the righteous and sinful, is considered to be distinguished among humans https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQglLvcXK5I&t=36 2 the mind responds differently to friends and to enemies, why, because the mind has a logic of its own, somebody is praising me, this person is so nice, somebody is criticizing me, this person is so bad, my self-interest is getting fulfilled, this person is my best friend, self-interest is getting harmed, this person is my worst enemy - so this is the logic of the mind but that is not the logic of the yogi https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQglLvcXK5I&t=81 3 the yogi just stands back from there and sees things truly as they are with his ability to stand back. This world is factually full of dualities, “verse”, the Ramayan says the Creator Kartar has made this world such that it has got dualities ; the rose bush has got the wonderful soft aromatic flower and also the atrocious thorn on it all in one bush, there are contradictions in the world, there is the night and then the day https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQglLvcXK5I&t=114 4 there are contradictions in our own body, the body is sentient, if you put a pin here oh what happened it's paining, it has got life and the nail you merrily cut it you don't get any pain, why, it doesn't have any sentience, it is in-sentient but the same nail you cut it a little more, oh what happened, the nail got cut but nail was getting cut earlier as well, no, the sentient portion of the nail got cut, so within the nail there are two dualities, likewise this is how the whole world is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQglLvcXK5I&t=176 5 the art is to learn to look at it with equanimity, so there is one level of Yogi, who sees that everybody is the soul and that is why that yogi retains the equanimity of vision, in fact in the Mahabharat there is an episode. In the western world the moment you bring up the word Hinduism, people immediately equate it to the caste system whereas factually caste is hardly of any relevance in India and whatever it was, it was a misinterpretation of the scriptures https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQglLvcXK5I&t=222 6 so in the Mahabharat there is an episode, one Utang Rishi he was sitting in samadhi for many years and when he got out of it, he came to know that the Mahabharat had taken place, so he got annoyed that Shri Krishna was present & why did He allow the Mahabharat to happen, he said I will curse Shri Krishna, because He could have stopped it. Shri Krishna, He was contemporary, He came that time and said what is the matter, Utang Rishi said you did not prevent the Mahabharat what kind of God are You, Shri Krishna explained there are some macro events that God allows to happen because they are serving a purpose, it's not that you have to have complete peace here in this world, that is not the purpose, so Utang Rishi got convinced and Shri Krishna was pleased. Shri Krishna said ask for a boon, Utang Rishi said I am a wanderer, a yogi, a renunciant and ascetic, the only need I have is from time to time is for water as I wander around in the desert, so what I want is that anytime I request for water you should make it available, Shri Krishna said all right https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQglLvcXK5I&t=275 7 little time went by, he was in the desert and he felt extremely thirsty and he said Shri Krishna I need water and one shudra came with a bag, he said would you like some water, Utang rishi felt disdain (the feeling that somebody/something is not good enough to be respected) “No”, then he said Shri Krishna you're not sending me water. Now another poor man came and said I've got some water are you interested ? Utang Rishi said “No”, finally he got annoyed that Shri Krishna had given me the boon and He's not arranged water for me, so Krishna manifested and utang Rishi said Maharaj why did You break Your word ? You had promised whenever I ask, You will arrange for water. Shri Krishna said, I did arrange, who do you think sent those two of them, do you know that I was just testing your vision, the first one was Indra, I told him to come and give you nectar in that bag but you refused him because of the external and the second was Yamraj I told him the same. So Utang realized he was not truly a yogi with equal vision https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQglLvcXK5I&t=375 8 so one is a (yogi) person who sees all equally and then there is a higher vision that Shri Krishna is sitting in everyone, that's an even higher vision and the highest vision is everybody is Divine, everybody is “Bhagawanmay” (भगवनमय), that is the vision of the Gopis “verse” so they see the whole world as the veritable (like) form of God that's the highest. Such yogis, they can never preach in this world, they can never give lectures because if you see everybody as Shri Krishna then how can you give a lecture to Shri Krishna, so those highest yogis they practically cannot do much in this world, they've reached that perfection but we have to strive at least for the middle path where we strive to see that Krishna is seated in the hearts of everyone and when you remember that you will not be disturbed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQglLvcXK5I&t=460 9 if somebody scolded you wrongly, you will say that Shri Krishna is sitting inside, Shri Krishna is testing me, all right I will pass the test, I will not be disturbed, so in this way with Divine Vision you are able to handle adversity and remain Kutasth (it represents a state of unwavering stillness and transcendence, undisturbed by worldly dualities, the state of being firmly established in one's divine nature, liberated from sensory distractions) & remain Tatasth (neutral, merely with a witness attitude) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQglLvcXK5I&t=565 Transcript: 0:01 bhagavat Gita chapter 6 dhyan yog The 0:05 yog of meditation shloka chanting is 0:08 followed by translation and and to enemies 1:31 why because the mind has a logic of its 1:36 own somebody is praising me this person 1:39 is so nice somebody is criticizing me 1:41 this person is so bad my self-interest 1:44 is getting fulfilled this person is my 1:47 best friend self-interest is getting 1:48 harmed this person is my worst enemy so 1:51 this is the logic of the mind but that 1:54 is not the logic of the Yogi the yogi 1:58 just stands back from there and 2:01 sees things now truly as they 2:07 are the ability to stand 2:11 back this world is factually full of 2:24 dualities “verse” the Ramayan says the Creator 2:27 Kartar has made this world 2:30 such that it has got 2:33 dualities the rose bush has got the 2:39 wonderful soft aromatic flower and also 2:44 the 2:45 atrocious thorn on it all in one bush 2:51 contradictions there are contradictions 2:53 in the world there is the night and then 2:56 the day there are contradictions in our 2:59 own 3:00 body the body is 3:03 sentient if you put a pin here oh what 3:07 happened it's paining it has got life 3:11 and the nail you merrily cut it you don't 3:15 get any pain no why it doesn't have any 3:20 sentience it is in-sentient but the same 3:23 nail you cut it a little more oh what 3:26 happened the nail got cut but nail was 3:29 getting cut earlier as well no the sentient 3:32 portion of the nail got cut So within 3:34 the nail there are two 3:37 dualities likewise this is how the whole 3:42 world is now the art out here is to 3:47 learn to look at it with 3:50 equanimity so there is one level of 3:54 Yogi who sees that everybody is the soul 4:00 and that is why that Yogi retains the 4:04 equanimity of 4:06 vision in fact in the Mahabharat there 4:09 is an 4:10 episode now you know in the Western 4:14 World the moment you bring up the word 4:18 Hinduism people immediately bring up 4:21 equate it to the cast 4:23 system whereas 4:26 factually cast is hardly of any 4:29 relevance in 4:30 India and whatever it was it was a 4:35 misinterpretation of the scriptures so 4:38 in the Mahabharat there is an episode 4:41 one Utang Rishi he was sitting in samadhi 4:45 for many years and when he got out of it 4:49 he came to know that the Mahabharat had 4:51 taken 4:54 place so he got annoyed that Shri 4:57 Krishna was present 5:00 why did he allow the Mahabharat to 5:03 happen he said I will curse Shri Krishna 5:07 He could have stopped it Shri 5:10 Krishna he was contemporary he came that 5:13 time and said what is the matter utang 5:15 Rishi said you did not prevent the 5:18 Mahabharat what kind of God are 5:21 you Shri Krishna explained there are 5:24 some macro events that God allows to 5:27 happen because they are serving a 5:30 purpose it's not that you have to have 5:33 complete peace here in this world that 5:35 is not the 5:37 purpose so Utang Rishi got convinced and 5:41 Shri Krishna was pleased and utang Rishi 5:45 Shri Krishna said ask for a 5:48 boon Utang Rishi 5:51 said I am a Wanderer a yogi a renunciant 5:57 and ascetic the only need I have is 6:00 from time to time for water as I 6:03 wander around in the desert so what I 6:07 want is that anytime I request for water 6:10 you should make it 6:12 available Shri Krishna said all 6:15 right little time went by he was in the 6:18 desert and he felt extremely thirsty and 6:21 he said Shri Krishna I need 6:24 water and one shudra came with a bag he 6:29 said would you like some 6:32 water Utang rishi felt disdain 6:36 no then he said Shri Krishna you're not 6:39 sending me 6:41 water now 6:43 another poor man came and said I've got 6:46 some water are you 6:49 interested Utang Rishi said 6:52 no now finally he got annoyed that Shri 6:55 Krishna had given me the boon and he's 6:57 not arranged water for me so Krishna 7:01 manifested and utang Rishi said Maharaj 7:04 why did you break your word you had 7:07 promised whenever I ask you will arrange 7:09 for water Shri Krishna said I did 7:12 arrange who do you think sent that those 7:15 two of them do you know what I was just 7:18 testing your vision the first one was 7:22 Indra I told him to come and give you 7:25 nectar in that bag but you refused him 7:28 because of the external 7:30 and the second was Yamraj I told him the 7:34 same so Utang realized he was not truly 7:38 a yogi with equal 7:40 Vision so one is a person who sees all 7:45 equally and then there is a higher 7:48 Vision Shri Krishna is sitting in 7:51 everyone that's an even higher vision 7:54 and the highest vision 7:57 is everybody is Divine everybody is 8:02 Bhagawan maya that is the vision of the Gopis “verse” 8:36 so they see the whole world as the 8:39 veritable form of God that's the 8:43 highest such 8:45 yogis they can never preach in this 8:48 world they can never give lectures 8:52 because if you see everybody as Shri 8:54 Krishna then how can you give a lecture 8:55 to Shri Krishna so those highest yogis 9:00 they practically cannot do much in this 9:03 world they've reached that 9:06 Perfection but we have to strive at 9:09 least for the middle path where we 9:12 strive to see that Krishna is seated in 9:16 the hearts of 9:18 everyone and when you remember that you 9:22 will not be 9:25 disturbed if somebody scolded you wrongly 9:32 you will say you know Shri Krishna is 9:34 sitting inside Shri Krishna is testing 9:37 me all right I will pass the test I will 9:40 not be 9:41 disturbed so in this way with Divine 9:45 Vision you are able to handle 9:49 adversity and remain Kutasth (it represents a state of unwavering stillness and transcendence, undisturbed by worldly dualities, the state of being firmly established in one's divine nature, liberated from sensory distractions) remain 9:55 Tatasth (neutral, merely a witness
