1# If you understand why you want happiness, you will automatically start going in the direction of God.
And if you can understand the nature of God, you will automatically understand why you want happiness.

So let us now shift focus and delve into the nature of God. In the Yajurved, there is a section called the Krishna Yajurved, in that there is an Upanishad called the Taittiriya Upanishad which has got three sections, Bhrigu-valli, Brahmanand-valli & Shiksha-valli.

So from Bhrigu-valli, I am telling you an episode, there was this sage called Bhrigu. Some of you have heard his name Bhrigu Samhita is an astrological treatise, Bhrigu has been a great sage in Indian history.
When he wanted knowledge, he thought whom should I accept as my Guru and then decided that when my father Varun, the god of the ocean, is such a great Brahma Gyani, then why search any further? Let me accept my father as my spiritual preceptor (Guru).

Bhrigu went to father Varun and said, father, today, I am coming not as your child, but as your disciple. That Supreme divine entity, somebody calls Krishna, somebody calls Ram, somebody calls Shiv, somebody says Brahman, somebody says Paramatma, Bhagwan, God, Lord, Allah, Khuda. Who is that? Varun answered “Verse” .

Bhrigu, God is He from whom the entire creation and everything that is, has emanated. God is He within whom all of creation is situated. God, is He into whom one day, this entire creation will merge. Have you understood ? Bhrigu said, father, from, within, into - this philosophical topic has gone over my head.
So, Varun then said, look Bhrigu, if you wish to understand God, he is not a subject of words. It's not that I say rasgulla and you understand, you will need to practice austerities and gain realization.

3:50: So Bhrigu went off and in the course of his sadhana, he had a realization. “Verse”, the entire creation is coming from grain. People eat the grain and their body becomes रस रक्त माँस मेदा हड्डी मज्जा वीर्य (ras, rakt, maans, meda, haddi, majja, virya), the sequence.
So, grain is the sustaining foundation of all creation, grain must be Brahaman.”verse”, with this discovery, Bhrigu returned to Varun and said, father, is grain Brahman ? Varun was quiet, quiet means that you are wrong.
So again Bhrigu then again asked what is Brahman? He got the instruction. Again he went off to practice austerity. So the second time he had the realization that “Pran” (प्राण) is the basis of it all, when he gave this discovery to guru dev, Varun was again quiet. Go practice a little more.
The third time, he found out man - the mind is Brahman, many people, they give so much emphasis to the mind, the mind is all that it is, we have that book, “The art of Mind Management”. So he said the mind and the thoughts are the basis of everything. I have now understood what is Brahman. Varun was again quiet. My child, Your austerities are not complete. Go and practice further.
Fourth time, Bhrigu discovered, “verse”, intellect is Brahman, the intellect is inspiring the mind, gurudev. Is this right? Gurudev said no, try once more.

The fifth and last time, Bhrigu discovered Anand or Bliss is the nature of Brahman. It is from that Bliss that we have emanated, it is in that Bliss that we are all situated and it is into that Bliss that we shall merge one day. When Bhrigu said this, Varun, encouraged him, well done, my child. You have understood the nature of Brahman.

So what is the nature of Brahman? Bliss, happiness, Anand. That is why there is a name for God in the vedas, Sat Chit Anand, Shrimad Bhagwatam is saying the Shree Murti of God is made of Bliss, not of flesh & bones. Padm Puran says God's stomach, hands, feet, face are all made of Bliss.

9#
So all these scriptures are telling us that God is of the nature of Bliss. There is a little distinction to be made here.

Sometimes people say there is bliss in God, Sansar Mein Anand Nahin Hai Swami Ji Bhagwan Mein Anand Hai (संसार में आनंद नहीं है, स्वामी जी, भगवान में आनंद है), however, this statement of “happiness in God” is not correct. What do you mean by happiness in God? This is only a figure of speech, like people say, there is water in the ocean.
So what is the ocean? Is it the name of a vessel? Give me a synonym for ocean - a huge body of water is the ocean, correct. So ocean means a huge body of water and you said water in the ocean. That means water in a huge body of water. What kind of speech is that - that's only a manner of expression, the fact is that the ocean itself is water. You may say there is water in the ocean but it's not accurate.

11#
Similarly, somebody may say there is Bliss in God but that is inaccurate. God Himself is bliss, you can never separate God from Bliss. Like you can separate the Ras from the Gulla, you see the rasgulla, an Indian delicacy, has got two parts to it,
the sugar syrup called the Ras and the cheese ball called the Gulla. Now, when you immerse the Gulla in the Ras and it absorbs the Ras, then the Gulla becomes Rasgulla, otherwise it is dry.
I don't think your mouth will water for the sake of a Gulla, but for Rasgulla it might.

12#
Similarly, if you say and there is bliss in God, it means that God is bliss-less and bliss came from outside, now He became blissful, but that's not what the vedas are saying. The Vedas are saying, know God Himself is Bliss.
God is Ras. So God and Blsss are synonymous. God is Bliss. Bliss is God. You may ponder (think deeply), what is Swami Ji trying to tell us?
