Bhagvat ONLY WHEN ONE UNDERSTANDS HIS REAL IDENTITY AS A SPIRITUAL BEING, REAL HAPPINESS FOLLOWS,8th June

Srimad Bhagvat

TRANSLATION
JUST AS A DEER, BECAUSE OF IGNORANCE, CANNOT SEE THE WATER WITHIN A WELL COVERED BY GRASS, BUT RUNS AFTER WATER ELSEWHERE, THE LIVING ENTITY COVERED BY THE MATERIAL BODY DOES NOT SEE THE HAPPINESS WITHIN HIMSELF, BUT RUNS AFTER HAPPINESS IN THE MATERIAL WORLD.

PURPORT
THIS IS AN ACCURATE EXAMPLE DEPICTING HOW THE LIVING ENTITY, BECAUSE OF LACK OF KNOWLEDGE, RUNS AFTER HAPPINESS OUTSIDE HIS OWN SELF.

WHEN ONE UNDERSTANDS HIS REAL IDENTITY AS A SPIRITUAL BEING, HE CAN UNDERSTAND THE SUPREME SPIRITUAL BEING, KRSHNA, AND THE REAL HAPPINESS EXCHANGED BETWEEN KRSHNA AND ONE'S SELF.

IT IS VERY INTERESTING TO NOTE HOW THIS VERSE POINTS TO THE BODY'S GROWTH FROM THE SPIRIT SOUL.

THE MODERN MATERIALISTIC SCIENTIST THINKS THAT LIFE GROWS FROM MATTER, BUT ACTUALLY THE FACT IS THAT MATTER GROWS FROM LIFE.

THE LIFE, OR THE SPIRITUAL SOUL, IS COMPARED HEREIN TO WATER, FROM WHICH CLUMPS OF MATTER GROW IN THE FORM OF GRASS.

ONE WHO IS IGNORANT OF SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE SPIRIT SOUL DOES NOT LOOK INSIDE THE BODY TO FIND HAPPINESS IN THE SOUL; INSTEAD, HE GOES OUTSIDE TO SEARCH FOR HAPPINESS, JUST AS A DEER WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE OF THE WATER BENEATH THE GRASS GOES OUT TO THE DESERT TO FIND WATER.

THE KRSHNA CONSCIOUSNESS MOVEMENT IS TRYING TO REMOVE THE IGNORANCE OF MISLED HUMAN BEINGS WHO ARE TRYING TO FIND WATER OUTSIDE THE JURISDICTION OF LIFE.

Raso vai sam. Raso 'ham apsu kaunteya. THE TASTE OF WATER IS KRSHNA.

TO QUENCH ONE'S THIRST, ONE MUST TASTE WATER BY ASSOCIATION WITH KRSHNA.

THIS IS THE VEDIC INJUNCTION.

Bhagvatam, ORIGINAL SPIRITUAL NATURE IS TO BE HAPPY BUT WE ARE IN MISERY FORGETTING OUR ETERNAL RELATIONSHIP WITH KRSHNA, 7th June

Srimad Bhagvatam

TRANSLATION
IN THIS WAY THE CONDITIONED SOUL LIVING WITHIN THE BODY FORGETS HIS SELF-INTEREST BECAUSE HE IDENTIFIES HIMSELF WITH THE BODY. BECAUSE THE BODY IS MATERIAL, HIS NATURAL TENDENCY IS TO BE ATTRACTED BY THE VARIETIES OF THE MATERIAL WORLD. THUS THE LIVING ENTITY SUFFERS THE MISERIES OF MATERIAL EXISTENCE.

PURPORT
EVERYONE IS TRYING TO BE HAPPY BECAUSE, AS EXPLAINED IN THE PREVIOUS VERSE,sukham asyatmano rüpam sarvehoparatis tanum: WHEN THE LIVING ENTITY IS IN HIS ORIGINAL SPIRITUAL FORM, HE IS HAPPY BY NATURE.

THERE IS NO QUESTION OF MISERIES FOR THE SPIRITUAL BEING. AS KRSHNA IS ALWAYS HAPPY, THE LIVING ENTITIES, WHO ARE HIS PARTS AND PARCELS, ARE ALSO HAPPY BY NATURE, BUT BECAUSE OF BEING PUT WITHIN THIS MATERIAL WORLD AND FORGETTING THEIR ETERNAL RELATIONSHIP WITH KRSHNA, THEY HAVE FORGOTTEN THEIR REAL NATURE.

BECAUSE EVERY ONE OF US IS A PART OF KRSHNA, WE HAVE A VERY AFFECTIONATE RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM, BUT BECAUSE WE HAVE FORGOTTEN OUR IDENTITIES AND ARE CONSIDERING THE BODY TO BE THE SELF, WE ARE AFFLICTED BY ALL THE TROUBLES OF BIRTH, DEATH, OLD AGE AND DISEASE.

THIS MISCONCEPTION IN MATERIALISTIC LIFE CONTINUES UNLESS AND UNTIL ONE COMES TO UNDERSTAND HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH KRSHNA. THE HAPPINESS SOUGHT BY THE CONDITIONED SOUL IS CERTAINLY ONLY ILLUSION, AS EXPLAINED IN THE NEXT VERSE.

LORD IS THE PROTECTOR #Blog0014

Lord, the Protector

कौन कहता है कि मिटाने की साजिशें होती ही नहीं हमें
पर ये उनकी निगाहें नाज है कि मुकम्मल नहीं होती

“Who says that there are no efforts in this world to demean me
But it is His grace that such efforts don’t fructify”

(दुष्ट – wicked, लबार – gossip monger, a wayward person, पथराखन – Guide

None can harm one, if You are one's guide

-----------

"जिसके सिर ऊपर तू स्वामी सो दुख कैसे पाए

जो तेरे रंग राते स्वामी

तिनका जन्म मरण दुख नासा”

whosoever is under Your protection, how can he get any sorrow? In fact , you even take him/her out of cruel birth death cycle

राते=attracted, तिनका जन्म मरण दुख नासा – their birth death cycle is vanquished (by You)

Psalm 91:1-16 GNT

Whoever goes to the LORD for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty, can say to him,

“You are my defender and protector. You are my God; in you I trust.”

He will keep you safe from all hidden dangers and from all deadly diseases. He will cover you with his wings; you will be safe in his care; his faithfulness will protect and defend you.

You need not fear any dangers at night or sudden attacks during the day or the plagues that strike in the dark or the evils that kill in daylight.

A thousand may fall dead beside you, ten thousand all around you, but you will not be harmed. You will look and see how the wicked are punished.

You have made the LORD your defender, the Most High your protector, and so no disaster will strike you, no violence will come near your home.

God will put his angels in charge of you to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands to keep you from hurting your feet on the stones. You will trample down lions and snakes, fierce lions and poisonous snakes.

God says, “I will save those who love me and will protect those who acknowledge me as LORD. When they call to me, I will answer them; when they are in trouble, I will be with them. I will rescue them and honor them. I will reward them with long life; I will save them.”

LORD CHAITANYA MAHAPRABHU SHIKSHTAKA चैतन्य महाप्रभु की 8 शिक्षायें in 8 shlokas #Blog0013

चैतन्य महाप्रभु की 8 शिक्षायें
Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's Shikshtaka

Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu left only eight verses, called Shikshtaka. These eight verses  clearly reveal His mission and precepts. These supremely valuable  prayers are translated herein.

1. Glory to the Sri Krsna sankirtana, which cleanses the heart of all the dust accumulated for years and extinguishes the fire of conditional life, of repeated birth and death. This sankirtana movement is the prime  benediction for humanity at large because it spreads the rays of the benediction moon. It is the life of all transcendental knowledge. It  increases the ocean of transcendental bliss, and it enables us to fully taste the nectar for which we are always anxious.

2. O my Lord, Your holy name alone can render all benediction to living beings, and thus You have hundreds and millions of names like Krsna and Govinda. In these transcendental names You have invested all Your  transcendental energies. There are not even hard and fast rules for chanting these names. O my Lord, out of kindness You enable us to easily approach You by Your holy names, but I am so unfortunate that I have no attraction for them.

3. One should chant the holy name of the Lord in a humble state of mind,  thinking oneself lower than the straw in the street; one should be more  tolerant than a tree, devoid of all sense of false prestige and should be ready to offer all respect to others. In such a state of mind one can chant the holy name of the Lord constantly.

4. O almighty Lord, I have no desire to accumulate wealth, nor do I desire beautiful women, nor do I want any number of followers. I only want Your causeless devotional service birth after birth.

5. O son of Mahäräja Nanda [Krsna], I am Your eternal servitor, yet somehow or other I have fallen into the ocean of birth and death. Please pick me up from this ocean of death and place me as one of the atoms at Your lotus feet.

6. O my Lord, when will my eyes be decorated with tears of love flowing constantly when I chant Your holy name? When will my voice choke up,  and when will the hairs of my body stand on end at the recitation of  Your name?

7. O Govinda! Feeling Your separation, I am considering a moment to be like twelve years or more. Tears are flowing from my eyes like torrents of rain, and I am feeling all vacant in the world in Your absence.

8. I know no one but Krsna as my Lord, and He shall remain so even if He handles me roughly by His embrace or makes me brokenhearted by not being present before me. He is completely free to do anything and everything, for He is always my worshipful Lord unconditionally.
