Bhagvatam ONLY MEANS OF BECOMING FREE FROM BIRTH DEATH, OLD AGE, DISEASE ENTANGLEMENT IS TO SURRENDER TO THE SUPREME LORD, 9th June

Srimad Bhagvatam


TRANSLATION
THE LIVING ENTITY TRIES TO ACHIEVE HAPPINESS AND RID HIMSELF OF THE CAUSES OF DISTRESS, BUT BECAUSE THE VARIOUS BODIES OF THE LIVING ENTITIES ARE UNDER THE FULL CONTROL OF MATERIAL NATURE, ALL HIS PLANS IN DIFFERENT BODIES, ONE AFTER ANOTHER, ARE ULTIMATELY BAFFLED.

PURPORT
BECAUSE THE MATERIALIST IS IN GROSS IGNORANCE OF HOW THE LAWS OF MATERIAL NATURE ACT UPON HIM AS A RESULT OF HIS FRUITIVE ACTIVITY, HE MISTAKENLY PLANS TO ENJOY BODILY COMFORT IN THE HUMAN FORM OF LIFE THROUGH SO-CALLED ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, THROUGH PIOUS ACTIVITIES FOR ELEVATION TO THE HIGHER PLANETARY SYSTEMS, AND IN MANY OTHER WAYS, BUT FACTUALLY HE BECOMES A VICTIM OF THE REACTIONS OF HIS FRUITIVE ACTIVITIES. THE SUPREME PERSONALITY OF GODHEAD IS SITUATED AS THE SUPERSOUL WITHIN THE CORES OF THE HEARTS OF ALL LIVING ENTITIES.

As the Lord says in Bhagavad-gita (15.15):

"I AM SEATED IN EVERYONE'S HEART, AND FROM ME COME REMEMBRANCE, KNOWLEDGE AND FORGETFULNESS." THE DESIRES AND ACTIVITIES OF THE LIVING BEING ARE OBSERVED BY THE SUPERSOUL, WHO IS THE UPADRASHTA, THE OVERSEER, AND WHO ORDERS MATERIAL NATURE TO FULFILL THE VARIOUS DESIRES OF THE LIVING BEING.

As clearly stated in Bhagavad-gita (18.61):

THE LORD IS SITUATED IN EVERYONE'S HEART, AND AS ONE DESIRES, THE LORD GIVES ONE VARIOUS TYPES OF BODIES, WHICH ARE LIKE MACHINES. RIDING ON SUCH A MACHINE, THE LIVING ENTITY WANDERS THROUGHOUT THE UNIVERSE, UNDER THE CONTROL OF MATERIAL NATURE AND ITS MODES. THUS THE LIVING BEING IS NOT AT ALL FREE TO ACT, BUT IS FULLY UNDER THE CONTROL OF MATERIAL NATURE, WHICH IS FULLY UNDER THE CONTROL OF THE SUPREME PERSONALITY OF GODHEAD.

AS SOON AS A LIVING ENTITY IS VICTIMIZED BY MATERIAL DESIRES TO LORD IT OVER MATERIAL NATURE, HE IS SUBJECTED TO THE CONTROL OF MATERIAL NATURE, WHICH IS SUPERVISED BY THE SUPREME SOUL.

THE RESULT IS THAT ONE AGAIN AND AGAIN MAKES PLANS AND IS BAFFLED, BUT AS FOOLISH AS HE IS HE CANNOT SEE THE CAUSE OF HIS BAFFLEMENT. THIS CAUSE IS DISTINCTLY STATED IN BHAGAVAD-GITA: BECAUSE ONE HAS NOT SURRENDERED TO THE SUPREME PERSONALITY OF GODHEAD, HE MUST WORK UNDER THE CONTROL OF MATERIAL NATURE AND ITS STRINGENT LAWS
(daivi hy esha guna-mayi mama maya duratyaya).

THE ONLY MEANS OF BECOMING FREE FROM THIS ENTANGLEMENT IS TO SURRENDER TO THE SUPREME LORD. IN THE HUMAN FORM OF LIFE, THE LIVING ENTITY MUST ACCEPT THIS INSTRUCTION FROM THE SUPREME PERSON, KRSHNA: sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam saranam vraja. "DO NOT PLAN TO ACHIEVE HAPPINESS AND DRIVE AWAY DISTRESS. YOU WILL NEVER BE SUCCESSFUL. SIMPLY SURRENDER UNTO ME."

UNFORTUNATELY, HOWEVER, THE LIVING ENTITY DOES NOT ACCEPT THE SUPREME LORD'S CLEARLY STATED INSTRUCTIONS FROM BHAGAVAD-GITA, AND THUS HE BECOMES A PERPETUAL CAPTIVE OF THE LAWS OF MATERIAL NATURE.

Yajnarthat karmano 'nyatra loko 'yam karma-bandhanam: IF ONE DOES NOT ACT FOR THE SATISFACTION OF KRSHNA, WHO IS KNOWN AS VISHNU OR YAJNA, HE MUST BE ENTANGLED IN THE REACTIONS OF FRUITIVE ACTIVITIES. THESE REACTIONS ARE CALLED PAPA AND PUNYA—SINFUL AND PIOUS. BY PIOUS ACTIVITIES ONE IS ELEVATED TO THE HIGHER PLANETARY SYSTEMS, AND BY IMPIOUS ACTIVITIES ONE IS DEGRADED TO LOWER SPECIES OF LIFE, IN WHICH HE IS PUNISHED BY THE LAWS OF NATURE.

IN THE LOWER SPECIES OF LIFE THERE IS AN EVOLUTIONARY PROCESS, AND WHEN THE TERM OF THE LIVING ENTITY'S IMPRISONMENT OR PUNISHMENT IN THE LOWER SPECIES IS FINISHED, HE IS AGAIN OFFERED A HUMAN FORM AND GIVEN A CHANCE TO DECIDE FOR HIMSELF WHICH WAY HE SHOULD PLAN. IF HE AGAIN MISSES THE OPPORTUNITY, HE IS AGAIN PUT INTO THE CYCLE OF BIRTH AND DEATH, GOING SOMETIMES HIGHER AND SOMETIMES LOWER, TURNING ON THE SAMSARA-CHAKRA, THE WHEEL OF MATERIAL EXISTENCE.

AS A WHEEL SOMETIMES GOES UP AND SOMETIMES COMES DOWN, THE STRINGENT LAWS OF MATERIAL NATURE MAKE THE LIVING ENTITY IN MATERIAL EXISTENCE SOMETIMES HAPPY AND SOMETIMES DISTRESSED. How he suffers in the cycle of happiness and distress is described in the next verse.

Gita shloka 3.2, ARJUNA SAYS: MY INTELLIGENCE IS BEWILDERED, 8th June

Gita shloka 3.2

TRANSLATION

My intelligence is bewildered by Your equivocal instructions. Therefore, please tell me decisively what is most beneficial for me.

PURPORT

In the previous chapter, as a prelude to the Bhagavad-gita, many different paths were explained, such as sankhya-yoga, buddhi-yoga, control of the senses by intelligence, work without fruitive desire, and the position of the neophyte.

This was all presented unsystematically.

A more organized outline of the path would be necessary for action and understanding.

Arjuna, therefore, wanted to clear up these apparently confusing matters so that any common man could accept them without misinterpretation.

Although Krsna had no intention of confusing Arjuna by any jugglery of words, Arjuna could not follow the process of Krsna consciousness—either by inertia or active service.

In other words, by his questions he is clearing the path of Krsna consciousness for all students who seriously want to understand the mystery of the Bhagavad-gita.

Vrindavan IS GREAT, वृन्दावन महिमा


चैतन्य महाप्रभु जी कहते हैं: “अपने चरणों की रज कर लीजिए”

“अपने चरणों की रज कर लीजिए”
“उर ऊपर नित्य रहूं रमता, अपनी वनमाल का फूल बना दे
लहरें टकराती रहें जिससे, उस यमुना का मुझे कूल बना दे (कूल=Shore, तट, किनारा)
कर कंज से थामते हो जिसको, उस कदम वृक्ष का मूल बना ले (कर कंज (Lotus)=Your Lotus like hands)
तेरी चरणों को नित्य चूमा करें, बृजराज मुझे बृज धूल बना दे”

Chaitanya Mahäprabhu says :

either make me dust of Your feet
or
make me a flower of Your garland so that I am always near Your chest
or
make me the shore of Yamuna so that I am in constant touch with Yamuna waves
or
make me the root (
मूल) of kadamb tree under the shade of which You play and support it

or
make me the dust of ब्रिज so that I can kiss Your feet all the time.

वृंदावन धाम को वास भलो

“वृंदावन धाम को वास भलो
जहां पास बहे यमुना रसरानी

जो जन नहाए के ध्यान धरें
वृंदावन तिन को मिले रज धानी
वेद पुराण बखान रहे ,

बात यही सब मुनि मनमानी

यमुना यम दूतन टारत हैं
यम टारत हैं श्री राधिका रानी”

It is best to live (वास) in Vrindavan where river Yamuna flows nearby.

Whoever takes bath in river Yamuna and meditates on Lord, gets the right of staying eternally at Vrindavan - this is declared by all vedas.

Yamuna gets you rid of angels of death whereas Radha Rani gives you eternal liberation back home to Godhead 

(यम lord of death Yamraj, टारत - Yamraj cannot come to you who has grace of Sri Radha)  


वृंदावन में वास की वस्तुतः विधि क्या है

यही है वृंदावन का चिंतवन
“वृंदावन को नाम रट,
वृंदावन को देख,
वृंदावन सौं प्रीति कर,
वृंदावन उर ले”

What is the desired way of living at Vrindavan.

Thinking about this is meditating lovingly on Vrindavan, the eternal abode of Lord.

Keep repeating the name of Vrindavan by the tongue

and

think about Vrindavan,

love Vrindavan and put Vrindavan in your heart (उर)

This leads to you Lord's actual doorstep literally.

ये वृंदावन की महिमा है कि वृंदावन की सीमा प्रवेश करते ही सारा जीवन प्रसाद हो जाता है

भगवान का कण कण में होते हुए भी, वृन्दावन की महिमा है, क्यों, क्योंकि वहां पर वो प्रेम प्रत्यक्ष है

Though God is in each atom, Vrindavan is specially significant as God manifests Himself there

जैसे सबमें समान रूप से भगवान होते हुए भी, संत की महिमा है Although God is everywhere, but saint / bhakta is significant


वृन्दावन वृन्द कहत, दुरित (पाप,sin) वृन्द (a heap,a multitude) दूर (goes away) जाईं,

और नेह (love) बेली (creeper -that grows) रस भजन की तव उपजे मनमाहीं"

When you recite Vrindavan by love, your sins vanish by mountains & love in the heart grows for Lord


1 बार अयोध्या जाओ, 2 बार द्वारिका, 3 बार जाकर त्रिवेनी में नहाओगे, 4 बार चित्रकूट, 9 बार नासिक में, बार बार जा के बद्रीनाथ हो के आओगे, कोटि बार काशी, केदरनाथ, रामेश्वरम, गया ,जगन्नाथ आदि घूम घूम आओगे, पर होंगे प्रत्यक्ष जहाँ दर्श श्याम श्यामा के, उस वृन्दावन सा कहीं आनंद नहीं पाओगे


किसी ने थोड़े सरल शब्दों में कह दिया :

"मोहे मोर जो बनायो, तो बनायो वृन्दावन को, डार डार कूद कूद तुम्हीं को रिझाऊंगीं

बन्दर जो बनायो, तो बनायो वृन्दावन को, नाच नाच कूद वृक्ष झूरन दिखाऊंगी

भिक्षुक बनायो तो बनायो बृजमण्डल को, मांग मांग टूक (टुकड़ा) ब्रिजवासिन को खाऊंगी

कोकिला (कोयल,cuckoo) करो या कीर (तोता,parrot) करो, जमुना के तीर (नदी का किनारा)

आठों याम (24 hours) श्यामा श्याम, श्यामा श्याम गाऊंगी

जय जय श्यामा, जय जय श्याम, जय जय श्री वृन्दावन धाम"

While proclaiming the glory Vrindavan Ras (Bliss of Vrindavan), Shri Hariram Vyas (Shri Vishakha Avtar) says, My Mind only relishes the bliss of Vrindavan. I sacrifice myself on those who discuss the same with me. I have no interest in Vedas, scriptures and their long speeches which doesn't include Sri Radha Krishna's divine pastimes and Bliss of Vrindavan is not present. This Bliss of Vrindavan is not the subject of discussion but it is a matter of experience. One should consider the actual grace of Shri Krishn only when One meets the actual Rasik Saint who reveals the Glory of this Bliss of Vrindavan. Very rare and fortunate are the ones in whose hearts this Bliss of Vrindavan has appeared
