DEVOTION IS PATH OF SURRENDER #Blog0011

DEVOTION IS PATH OF SURRENDER

“ONE CANNOT GET BOTH THIS WORLD AS WELL AS HIM (LORD)

AND ONE WHO GETS THIS WORLD CANNOT GET HIM

AND I HAVE BEEN THROUGH VARIOUS PHYSICAL PATHS (LIKE KARMA, GYAN,I.E., ALL PHYSICAL LABOUR PATHS)

HE IS NOT OBTAINABLE ON ANY OF THESE PATHS”

IMPLIED MEANING IS THAT HE IS OBTAINABLE ONLY THROUGH BHAKTI MARG (LOVING DEVOTION)

ALL OF US HAVE TO BE DOING SOME ACTION ALL THE TIME ,I.E., WE’VE TO WALK IN SOME DIRECTION ALL THE TIME, SO WHY NOT TO WALK IN HIS DIRECTION (LOVING DEVOTION), AS SUGGESTED BY HE, HIMSELF IN GITA :

सर्वधर्मान्परित्यज्य मामेकं शरणं व्रज

अहं त्वां सर्वपापेभ्यो मोक्षयिष्यामि मा श‍ुच:

"Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reactions. Do not fear."

(Gita Shloka 18.66)

DEVOTION IS PATH OF SURRENDER – LORD SAYS “LEAVING ALL RELIGIONS, SURRENDER TO ME ALONE”

REST ASSURED THAT BEFORE YOU TIRE OUT ON THIS PATH (भक्ति, LOVING DEVOTION), HE WOULD COME TO YOU

Those who are fruitive laborers and philosophical speculators from time immemorial are constantly going and coming. Actually they do not attain ultimate salvation, for they do not surrender to Kṛṣṇa.

Following extract from Sri Sathya Sai :

The greatest obstacle on the path of surrender is egoism and mineness or possessiveness. It is something that has been inherent in your personality since ages, sending its tentacles deeper and deeper with the experience of every succeeding life.  It can be removed only by the twin detergents of discrimination and renunciation. Devotion is the water to wash away this dirt of ages and the soap of repetition of God’s name, meditation, and communion (yoga) will help to remove it quicker and more effectively. The slow and the steady will surely win this race But even the first step will be unsteady if you have no faith. So cultivate faith Do not waver or doubt when once you are convinced. Seek to understand and satisfy yourself. After that, do not be misled.  When the sun is over your head there will be no shadow; similarly when faith is steady in your head it should not cast any shadow of doubt. Keep the faith in the Lord undiminished; you can then safely move about in the world. No harm can come to you!

There is no Veda or Sastra (scripture) superior to devotion.Divine love encompasses all sacred acts.

Dedication of all activity to God and surrendering to His Will is called Bhakti Marga (path of devotion). Bhakti has to be built on conviction, not on blind unreasoning belief. That‘s why I always emphasise the role of intelligence.

Intelligence is a special gift from God to man; it confers the power of discrimination between right and wrong. Peace or happiness depends on the choice of the right means and this is a matter to be decided by intelligence.

Prosperity too depends on the intelligent exploitation of resources available, human and other. The wavering 'intelligence' of man, that has lost its one-pointedness and purity is responsible for all the conflicts and quarrels that are prevalent today. So, I ask you to pray to God to grant you the capacity to think straight and right, and to stick to the correct decision once decided on, without being affected by egoism, greed or hatred. Pray for a balanced mind unaffected by prejudices and passions.

- Divine Discourse, Mar 17, 1973.

Offer Him the fragrant leaf of devotion, and the flowers of your emotions and impulses freed from pests of lust, anger, etc.

Once you decide that the orchard in your mind is His, all fruits will be sweet; your attitude of surrender will render all fruits acceptable to the Lord, then how can they be bitter?

GITA SHLOKA 2.67 EVEN ONE SENSE CAN BEFOOL,1st June

Bhagvad Gita (shloka 2.67)

TRANSLATION
AS A BOAT ON THE WATER IS SWEPT AWAY BY A STRONG WIND, EVEN ONE OF THE SENSES ON WHICH THE MIND FOCUSES CAN CARRY AWAY A MAN'S INTELLIGENCE.

PURPORT
UNLESS ALL OF THE SENSES ARE ENGAGED IN THE SERVICE OF THE LORD, EVEN ONE OF THEM ENGAGED IN SENSE GRATIFICATION CAN DEVIATE THE DEVOTEE FROM THE PATH OF TRANSCENDENTAL ADVANCEMENT.

AS MENTIONED IN THE LIFE OF MAHARAJA AMBARISA, ALL OF THE SENSES MUST BE ENGAGED IN KRSNA CONSCIOUSNESS, FOR THAT IS THE CORRECT TECHNIQUE FOR CONTROLLING THE MIND.

INFORMATION, WISDOM & DEVOTION #Blog0010

INFORMATION, WISDOM & DEVOTION

there is information & there is wisdom

Information is gathered from outside but wisdom is generated from within when you sit in contemplation of Lord

Information is obtained by effort but wisdom is received by grace of a guru or Lord

worldly gain (which is purely temporary) results from information but wisdom (ज्ञान) grants theoretical knowledge for spiritual progress which finds climax in loving devotion (भक्ति) towards Lord

DEVOTION:

by pure loving devotion, all your bad habits & qualities turn to decorative jewels

रब दा की पावना = it is easy to find Lord

ऐथो = from here, पुटना = to dig & root out, ओथे = to there, लाणा = to fix it there

All you have to do is to dig out (पुटना) your tendencies / inclinations from this world & fix (लाणा) them towards Lord

संतों ने  ये नहीं कहा कि ऐथो चुकना (simply lift, rather than dig out) , ते ओथे लाणा (because चुकना (simply lifting) is easy, BUT  पुटना (to dig & root out) which requires that you make an effort to root out your attachments to the worldly beings & things & place your desires only with Lord

Life is a jig saw puzzle game – hardly few know the “game” & so none can solve it, except those who surrender to God Who then reveals the resolution.

That is why it is said about God :
"मैं चलूं तो हर कदम पर सवाल है और तेरी एक नजर का सवाल है"
for me, there is a danger lurking at every step of life but for You, it is only a question of Your glance towards me

Bhakti is like helicopter. It has no traffic up there.

Traffic is for cars on road, and not in the sky.

Helicopter transcends road traffic.

Similarly Bhakti transcends material world and can be performed anywhere and everywhere.

Bhakti can be performed anytime irrespective of what the situation in life is.

Every unfavorable situation in our life is favorable for our bhakti.

1st step is INFORMATION ABOUT LORD:

This especially describes the impersonalists, who have no information of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. They try to remain satisfied with the impersonal Brahman, but Kṛṣṇa is so attractive and so strong that He attracts their minds. This is the purport of this verse.

NEXT STEP IS WISDOM (theoretical knowledge about Lord):

“O best of the Bhāratas, four kinds of people with very righteous backgrounds take up devotional service to Me. They are the distressed, the inquisitive, the seekers of material profit, and the jñānīs, or wise men.”

Out of these four, those who are distressed and those who desire wealth are called sakāma devotees, devotees with material desires, whereas the other two, the inquisitive and the searcher for wisdom (ज्ञानी), are mokṣa-kāma devotees, seekers of liberation.

(BUT FOR PURE DEVOTEES, EVEN LIBERATION (मोक्ष) IS NOT THE AIM BUT LORD HIMSELF - HIS LOVE, DARSHAN & SEVA)

FINAL STEP IS LOVING DEVOTION TO LORD (BHAKTI)

Because they all worship Kṛṣṇa, they are all considered to be very fortunate. In due course of time, if they give up all desires and become pure devotees (भक्त) of the Supreme Lord, they can be considered most fortunate. Such fortunate beginners can develop only in the association of pure devotees of Lord Kṛṣṇa. When one associates with pure devotees, he becomes a pure devotee himself.

LORD IS PLEASED & GETTABLE ONLY BY BHAKTI.
