Gita shloka 4.37: AS THE BLAZING FIRE TURNS FIREWOOD TO ASHES, O ARJUNA, SO DOES THE FIRE OF KNOWLEDGE BURN TO ASHES ALL REACTIONS TO MATERIAL ACTIVITIES, 17th Aug

Gita shloka 4.37: AS THE BLAZING FIRE TURNS FIREWOOD TO ASHES, O ARJUNA, SO DOES THE FIRE OF KNOWLEDGE BURN TO ASHES ALL REACTIONS TO MATERIAL ACTIVITIES, 17th Aug

TRANSLATION

As the blazing fire turns firewood to ashes, O Arjuna, so does the fire of knowledge burn to ashes all reactions to material activities.

PURPORT

Perfect knowledge of self and Superself and of their relationship is compared herein to fire.

This fire not only burns up all reactions to impious activities, but also all reactions to pious activities, turning them to ashes.

There are many stages of reaction: reaction in the making, reaction fructifying, reaction already achieved, and reaction a priori.

But knowledge of the constitutional position of the living entity burns everything to ashes.

When one is in complete knowledge, all reactions, both a priori and a posteriori, are consumed.

In the Vedas it is stated: ubhe uhaivaisa ete taraty amrtah sadhv-asadhuni: "One overcomes both the pious and impious interactions of work."

Gita shloka 4.36, EVEN IF YOU ARE CONSIDERED TO BE THE MOST SINFUL OF ALL SINNERS, WHEN YOU ARE SITUATED IN THE BOAT OF TRANSCENDENTAL KNOWLEDGE, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO CROSS OVER THE OCEAN OF MISERIES, 16th Aug

TRANSLATION

Even if you are considered to be the most sinful of all sinners, when you are situated in the boat of transcendental knowledge, you will be able to cross over the ocean of miseries.

PURPORT

Proper understanding of one's constitutional position in relationship to Krsna is so nice that it can at once lift one from the struggle for existence which goes on in the ocean of nescience.

This material world is sometimes regarded as an ocean of nescience and sometimes as a blazing forest.

In the ocean, however expert a swimmer one may be, the struggle for existence is very severe.

If someone comes forward and lifts the struggling swimmer from the ocean, he is the greatest savior.

Perfect knowledge, received from the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is the path of liberation.

The boat of Krsna consciousness is very simple, but at the same time the most sublime.

व्यास बड़ाई (praises) लोक (of world) की, कूकर (dog) की पहचान”, “the praises of the world are akin to a dog's love" #Blog0029

"व्यास बड़ाई (praises) लोक (of world) की

“the praises of the world are akin to a dog's love”

"व्यास बड़ाई (praises) लोक (of world) की, कूकर (dog) की पहचान”

Vyas ji says “the praises of the world are akin to a dog's love)

if you love the dog, it will lick your face but

if you earn its enmity, it will bite you - neither of which is too pleasing

so appreciation by the world is likened to dog's love

saints advise about its solution "remain away"

it is natural for bhakt to get the due appreciation of the world....

the one who does bhajan & makes effort towards God & fulfills purpose of human birth not only for himself but for many others also whoever chose to be in tune with him & hence truly deserves the glory....

but to avoid His bhakta getting too many accolades (praises), God makes due arrangement...

आँगन (own corridor) कुटी (hut) छवाए (give shelter)

Keep criticizers near you, keep them in your own precincts

(God arranges to send "criticizers “near bhakta, to condemn him....)

...so bhakta starts getting defamed even upto intolerable limits, without any basis / reason or rhyme - BUT God manages it all - so that bhakt does not forget Him, so that bhakt does not go astray / gets lost / to forget....)

...& then bhakt gets awakened from his stupor - recognizing that the compliments & plaudits of the world were like palaces of sand - purely temporary & momentary

WHEN WE BECOME THANKFUL FOR EACH LITTLE THING – IS WHEN WE ATTRACT LORD LIKE A MAGNET #Blog0028

WHEN WE BECOME THANKFUL FOR EACH LITTLE THING – IS WHEN WE ATTRACT LORD LIKE A MAGNET

Bhagvatam: EVEN DEMIGODS APPROACHED A GURU, AS DIRECTED BY LORD BRAHMA- TO WIN OVER DEMONS, 13th Aug

Bhagvatam: EVEN DEMIGODS APPROACHED A GURU, AS DIRECTED BY LORD BRAHMA- TO WIN OVER DEMONS

TRANSLATION

Sri Sukadeva Gosvämi continued: Vishvarüpa, who was engaged as the priest of the demigods, had three heads. He used one to drink the beverage soma-rasa, another to drink wine and the third to eat food. O King Parikshit, thus I have heard from authorities.

PURPORT

One cannot directly perceive the kingdom of heaven, its king and other inhabitants, or how they perform their various engagements, for no one can go to the heavenly planets.

Although modern scientists have invented many powerful space vehicles, they cannot even go to the moon, not to speak of other planets.

By direct experience one cannot learn anything beyond the range of human perception.

One must hear from authorities.

Therefore Sukadeva Gosvämi, a great personality, says, "What I am describing to you, O King, is what I have heard from authoritative sources." This is the Vedic system.

The Vedic knowledge is called shruti because it must be received by being heard from authorities.

It is beyond the realm of our false experimental knowledge.

O Mahäräja Parikshit, the demigods were related to Vishvarüpa from his father's side, and therefore he visibly offered clarified butter in the fire while chanting mantras such as "indräya idam svähä" ["this is meant for King Indra"] and idam agnaye ["this is for the demigod of fire"].

He loudly chanted these mantras and offered each of the demigods his proper share.

TRANSLATION

Although offering clarified butter in the sacrificial fire in the name of the demigods, without the knowledge of the demigods he also offered oblations to the demons because they were his relatives through his mother.

PURPORT

Because of Vishvarüpa's affection for the families of both the demigods and the demons, he appeased the Supreme Lord on behalf of both dynasties.

When he offered oblations in the fire on behalf of the asuras, he did so secretly, without the knowledge of the demigods.

Once upon a time, however, the King of heaven, Indra, understood that Vishvarüpa was secretly cheating the demigods by offering oblations on behalf of the demons.

He became extremely afraid of being defeated by the demons, and in great anger at Vishvarüpa he cut Vishvarüpa's three heads from his shoulders.

Thereafter, the head meant for drinking soma-rasa was transformed into a kapinjala [francolin partridge].

Similarly, the head meant for drinking wine was transformed into a kalavinka [sparrow], and the head meant for eating food became a tittiri [common partridge].
