WHEN WE BECOME THANKFUL FOR EACH LITTLE THING – IS WHEN WE ATTRACT LORD LIKE A MAGNET #Blog0028

WHEN WE BECOME THANKFUL FOR EACH LITTLE THING – IS WHEN WE ATTRACT LORD LIKE A MAGNET

Bhagvatam: EVEN DEMIGODS APPROACHED A GURU, AS DIRECTED BY LORD BRAHMA- TO WIN OVER DEMONS, 13th Aug

Bhagvatam: EVEN DEMIGODS APPROACHED A GURU, AS DIRECTED BY LORD BRAHMA- TO WIN OVER DEMONS

TRANSLATION

Sri Sukadeva Gosvämi continued: Vishvarüpa, who was engaged as the priest of the demigods, had three heads. He used one to drink the beverage soma-rasa, another to drink wine and the third to eat food. O King Parikshit, thus I have heard from authorities.

PURPORT

One cannot directly perceive the kingdom of heaven, its king and other inhabitants, or how they perform their various engagements, for no one can go to the heavenly planets.

Although modern scientists have invented many powerful space vehicles, they cannot even go to the moon, not to speak of other planets.

By direct experience one cannot learn anything beyond the range of human perception.

One must hear from authorities.

Therefore Sukadeva Gosvämi, a great personality, says, "What I am describing to you, O King, is what I have heard from authoritative sources." This is the Vedic system.

The Vedic knowledge is called shruti because it must be received by being heard from authorities.

It is beyond the realm of our false experimental knowledge.

O Mahäräja Parikshit, the demigods were related to Vishvarüpa from his father's side, and therefore he visibly offered clarified butter in the fire while chanting mantras such as "indräya idam svähä" ["this is meant for King Indra"] and idam agnaye ["this is for the demigod of fire"].

He loudly chanted these mantras and offered each of the demigods his proper share.

TRANSLATION

Although offering clarified butter in the sacrificial fire in the name of the demigods, without the knowledge of the demigods he also offered oblations to the demons because they were his relatives through his mother.

PURPORT

Because of Vishvarüpa's affection for the families of both the demigods and the demons, he appeased the Supreme Lord on behalf of both dynasties.

When he offered oblations in the fire on behalf of the asuras, he did so secretly, without the knowledge of the demigods.

Once upon a time, however, the King of heaven, Indra, understood that Vishvarüpa was secretly cheating the demigods by offering oblations on behalf of the demons.

He became extremely afraid of being defeated by the demons, and in great anger at Vishvarüpa he cut Vishvarüpa's three heads from his shoulders.

Thereafter, the head meant for drinking soma-rasa was transformed into a kapinjala [francolin partridge].

Similarly, the head meant for drinking wine was transformed into a kalavinka [sparrow], and the head meant for eating food became a tittiri [common partridge].

Divine is not absent, He is just ignored. पुण्य करना तो आसान है पाप छोड़ना मुश्किल है #Blog0027

Divine is not absent, He is just ignored.

A simple proof of this can be seen in whatsapp spiritual groups - how many, what %age of persons available, do join such groups & how many read their contents with intent !

THERE IS NOTHING IN THE WORLD NEARER TO ONE THAN THE DIVINE. GOD IS VERY MUCH NEARER TO YOU THAN YOUR MOTHER AND DEARER TO YOU THAN YOUR FATHER. YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO FORGET SUCH A GOD. BEAR THIS GOOD COUNSEL IN MIND. - Sathya Sai Divine Discourse, Jan 14, 1991.

Being rich, you donate some amount & earn punya.

DOs are easy to do BUT DON’Ts are difficult to leave.

Don’t envy / hate as it is a sin. But do we leave hating or envying others?

If we start loving Lord, automatically you'd start loving all

Don’t see faults in others as it is a sin. Do we stop this?

If we start loving Lord, one'd see good in others but faults in oneself

Don’t be angry at others. Do we leave anger ?

If we start loving Lord, we would NOT get angry at others.

Have we ever got angry with ourselves?

If  we do, majority of world’s problems would not arise

Don’t kill. But do we stop eating non-veg?

If we start loving Lord, we'd become vegetarians.

Don’t “attach” yourself to things or persons or results of our actions (to leave “मोह”) - but do we ?

If we start loving Lord, all these “attachments” (“मोह”) would disappear & we'd start serving all, including our families, near & dear ones more efficiently & productively

Don’t drink, Don’t gamble, Don't be proud, Don't be too selfish ……….

If we start loving Lord, all good will sprout up automatically from within & all bad would vanish

Vide Narad Bhakti Sutra < click to read :

Material existence is a life of revolt against the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

There are many ways in which the living entities can manifest this spirit of revolt, such as engaging in fruitive activities, mental speculation, or mystic yoga to achieve material perfections. Generally, all conditioned souls desire to lord it over the material nature. Everyone wants to become a demilord, either by social or political activities or by Vedic rituals.

Everyone wants to elevate himself to a higher status of existence or, out of frustration, become one with the Supreme. All these desires are different types of materialism; they are not favorable for devotional service.

A pure devotee rejects demigod worship and worships only Lord Krsna or His Vishnu expansions. Until a person is completely free of material contamination, he might want to worship God in hope of fulfilling material desires.

But even if a person has material desires, if he scrupulously worships the Supreme Lord he will very soon become purified of all such desires.

GITA-SHLOKA-4.29 A Krsna conscious person, however, being always situated in the transcendental loving service of the Lord, automatically becomes the controller of the senses, 11th Aug

GITA-SHLOKA-4.29 A Krsna conscious person, however, being always situated in the transcendental loving service of the Lord, automatically becomes the controller of the senses. So at the end of life, he is naturally transferred to the transcendental plane of Lord Krsna

TRANSLATION
And there are even others who are inclined to the process of breath restraint to remain in trance, and they practice stopping the movement of the outgoing breath into the incoming, and incoming breath into the outgoing, and thus at last remain in trance, stopping all breathing. Some of them, curtailing the eating process, offer the outgoing breath into itself, as a sacrifice.
PURPORT
This system of yoga for controlling the breathing process is called pranayama, and in the beginning it is practiced in the hatha-yoga system through different sitting postures.

All of these processes are recommended for controlling the senses and for advancement in spiritual realization.

This practice involves controlling the air within the body to enable simultaneous passage in opposite directions.

The apana air goes downward, and the prana air goes up.

The pranayama yogi practices breathing the opposite way until the currents are neutralized into puraka, equilibrium.

Similarly, when the exhaled breathing is offered to inhaled breathing, it is called rechaka.

When both air currents are completely stopped, it is called kumbhaka-yoga.

By practice of kumbhaka-yoga, the yogis increase the duration of life by many, many years.

A Krsna conscious person, however, being always situated in the transcendental loving service of the Lord, automatically becomes the controller of the senses.

His senses, being always engaged in the service of Krsna, have no chance of becoming otherwise engaged.

So at the end of life, he is naturally transferred to the transcendental plane of Lord Krsna; consequently he makes no attempt to increase his longevity.

He is at once raised to the platform of liberation.

A Krsna conscious person begins from the transcendental stage, and he is constantly in that consciousness.

Therefore, there is no falling down, and ultimately he enters into the abode of the Lord without delay.

The practice of reduced eating is automatically done when one eats only Krsna prasadam, or food which is offered first to the Lord.

Reducing the eating process is very helpful in the matter of sense control.

And without sense control there is no possibility of getting out of the material entanglement.

GITA SHLOKA 4.28 Krsna consciousness cannot be attained by charity, being harsh on body, yogas, study of vedas etc. but can be attained only by the mercy of the Lord and His bona fide devotee,10th Aug

GITA SHLOKA 4.28 Krsna consciousness cannot be attained by charity, being harsh on body, yogas, study of vedas etc. but can be attained only by the mercy of the Lord and His bona fide devotee.

TRANSLATION
There are others who, enlightened by sacrificing their material possessions in severe austerities, take strict vows and practice the yoga of eightfold mysticism, and others study the Vedas for the advancement of transcendental knowledge.
PURPORT
These sacrifices may be fitted into various divisions.

There are persons who are sacrificing their possessions in the form of various kinds of charities.

In India, the rich merchantile community or princely orders open various kinds of charitable institutions like dharmasala, anna-ksetra, atithi-sala, anathalaya, vidyapitha, etc.

In other countries, too, there are many hospitals, old age homes and similar charitable foundations meant for distributing food, education and medical treatment free to the poor.

All these charitable activities are called dravyamaya-yajna.

There are others who, for higher elevation in life or for promotion to higher planets within the universe, voluntarily accept many kinds of austerities such as chandrayana and chaturmasya.

These processes entail severe vows for conducting life under certain rigid rules.

For example, under the chaturmasya vow the candidate does not shave for four months during the year (July to October), he does not eat certain foods, does not eat twice in a day and does not leave home.

Such sacrifice of the comforts of life is called tapomaya-yajna.

There are still others who engage themselves in different kinds of mystic yogas like the Patanjali system (for merging into the existence of the Absolute), or hatha-yoga or astanga-yoga (for particular perfections).

And some travel to all the sanctified places of pilgrimage.

All these practices are called yoga-yajna, sacrifice for a certain type of perfection in the material world.

There are others who engage themselves in the studies of different Vedic literatures, specifically the Upanisads and Vedanta-sutras, or the sankhya philosophy.

All of these are called svadhyaya-yajna, or engagement in the sacrifice of studies.

All these yogis are faithfully engaged in different types of sacrifice and are seeking a higher status of life.

Krsna consciousness, is, however, different from these because it is the direct service of the Supreme Lord.

Krsna consciousness cannot be attained by any one of the above-mentioned types of sacrifices but can be attained only by the mercy of the Lord and His bona fide devotee.

Therefore, Krsna consciousness is transcendental.
