The Power of NOT Asking from God - The Ultimate Relationship with Shree Krishna - by Swami Mukundanand

The Power of NOT Asking from God - The Ultimate Relationship with Shree Krishna - by Swami Mukundanand
Main Points:  1 today you go O Shri Krishna, please fulfill this one wish of mine, after this I'll never ask you, now tomorrow again we'll say Shri Krishna, You listen to me the last time, please fulfill this I'll never ask you, if you wish to succeed in your devotion, remember not to make this mistake   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6c38scPY1o&t=0 & https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6c38scPY1o&t=582 2 Learn from this story of the Arab sheikh who had 30 wives in his Haram and when he went for his first visit to Europe, all his wives gave their wish list for gifts,  except the youngest wife who simply sent a letter with the numeral one on it,when he came back & went to meet his young 30th wife himself with the letter and said my dear what did you mean by this letter with “one” written on it, she said I wanted only you and nothing else and now I have got you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6c38scPY1o&t=45 3 God too says, decide! do you want the world or do you want Me ? if you want Me, then don't come to me for material Desires, this is the verdict of all the bhakti Scriptures, you must not do sakam (सकाम) bhakti (in which you worship God for some material gains/fruits) but Nishkam (निष्काम) devotion (in which you love God, not for some material gains/fruits BUT only His love, only His bhakti), This is Selfless Love, so what is the problem in going to God for material Rewards ? the problem is this if we go to God with material desires,  it is not devotion to God but devotion to our material desire  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6c38scPY1o&t=115 4 let us say you visit the temple for 40 days with this wish, oh God, please let my child become alright, your mind is attached to the child but not to God, so what you are doing in effect is bhakti of your child & not of God, bhakti means taking your mind to God and that is not happening https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6c38scPY1o&t=194 5 think a little further, when we go and demand things from the Lord, is He going to fulfill our wishes merely because of our asking ? somebody said, we think God is like a cosmic bell boy that we press the bell, oh God, please get this for me and He will say yes here it is  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6c38scPY1o&t=232 6 even in the world, if you ask somebody for something, there must be a Basis, supposing you were to just wave your hand at a car passing by to stop, the driver breaks and says what is the Matter, you say that I need to go to such and such place can you please take me ? the driver thinks you are out of your mind, a dangerous man, let me exit while it's still safe, he lifts the window pane presses the accelerator and is on his way but going ahead the car driver finds his own friend and so slows down himself, Sharma ji where are you going ?  I'm just taking evening walk, come walk in my car, how can I walk in your car but he's insisting that Sharma ji should come in his car because Sharma ji is his acquaintance and the other guy was in need he had to visit the hospital to meet a patient who required his attendance and there he thinks he's a mad man because the relationship is not there https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6c38scPY1o&t=255 7 likewise when we have not created a relationship with God, on what basis do we ask God ? most people have no idea who is this God, they just have a picture in their shop that when I lift the shutter I'll take a two paise agarbatti and turn it around and that also I don't know whether He exists or not, but if I'm getting insurance for two paise, why not but wherever they are in problem, they go to the Picture, now why should God listen when you've not created that relationship with God ?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6c38scPY1o&t=330 8 further some people say, I have created my relationship with God, and if I ask Hanuman ji for anything he definitely gives it, if that is the case, then why are you asking Hanuman ji for broken pieces of glass ? why don't you ask him for love of Ram ? Bhagvat Prem ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6c38scPY1o&t=375 9 or why not ask him what Prahalad beseeched when Narsingh Bhagwan manifested and He killed  Hiranyakashyipu, at that time he lifted Prahalad and said my child I am very pleased with your devotion, ask what you want,   Prahalad gave such a response that Narsingh Bhagwan was Silenced, Prahalad said my Lord if I ask you, I will not remain your devotee but will become a Businessman, this is business I engage in your loving devotion, now give me this. my job is to serve you, not to Ask, but then Prahalad did not stop there,  he said Maharaj if you are asking me to seek a boon I must fulfill your instruction because the service is done in accordance with the Master's Desires, so if you want me to ask, this is what I Say, my Lord please bestow this boon on me that I should never ask you for anything.  Ever, think about that the profundity (great depth of knowledge or thought) of Prahalad's Statement, he is saying if there is the slightest tinge of selfish seeking in me all I ask is for it to be destroyed so that I become a truly selfless lover of yours because in this process of asking there's a big danger, there is no end to desires today   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6c38scPY1o&t=403 10 9:42you go O Shree Krishna please fulfill this one wish of mine, after this I'll never ask you now, tomorrow again we'll say Shree Krishna, you listen to me the last time, please fulfill this, I'll never ask you, there is no guarantee that our wish will be fulfilled, because Shree Krishna upholds the law of karma you get as you deserve, not as you desire, so when our wishes are fulfilled we'll say Shri Krishna is so nice & when it is not fulfilled, we'll say he doesn't listen to me how hard-hearted He is, our devotion will go up and down so many times a day, how will we progress in our love to the Lord ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6c38scPY1o&t=582 11 understand the basis of love  from my latest book spiritual secrets  from  Hinduism, business is a transactional  activity characterized by give and take,  we give to the other party with the  intention of reciprocation, in  anticipation of gain for  ourselves, those engaged in business are  inevitably concerned about what they  stand to receive in  return ,we often make the same mistake  while engaging in devotion to God, we go  to the temple and beseech the Lord for  material  Boons, this is like doing business  with him, Selfless Love is the stark  opposite of business, in such love we  desire only to give give  Give, without the expectation of  reciprocation  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6c38scPY1o&t=638 12 Chaitanya Mahaprabhu said, where the desire is simply for self happiness that is lust, where the desire is for the Lord's happiness, that is love, lust is like darkness while love is pure like the sun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6c38scPY1o&t=707 13 such a beautiful example of Love is given  of the mythical Chatak bird’s love for  the Swati  Cloud, it only drinks water of the Swati  Cloud, the cloud that forms in the Swati  nakshatra, it is not an  opportunist and it patiently waits for  the cloud to appear no matter how  thirsty it may be.  Read the reference vide httwww.instagram.com/maakripadham/reel/DCg2tnTsZ0m/ and listen to the whole narration about ananyta (sincere devotion to One, none else) of this bird    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6c38scPY1o&t=733 & https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6c38scPY1o&t=1024 14 the takeaway from above Chatak bird is that no matter how God behaves with the devotee, the devotee does not do a mood off. When Shree Krishna lifted the chariot wheel and came angrily to kill Bhishma in the Battle of Mahabharat, Bhishma did not say I'm your devotee and You behave with me like this, how dare You, I'll no longer remain connected to You, instead he broke into a broad Smile, Shree Krishna had come forward with great fury, his eyes were red, there was rage on his face, and he was grinding his teeth but He saw Bhishma smiling, He stopped in his tracks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6c38scPY1o&t=876 15 again the takeaway is in whateverway God behaves, the devote chooses tosee Ras (रस) in it, “मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम्” (God is sweetness personified & everything about God is sweet),just like the jalebi is roundround and yet full of ras (रस),every behavior of the Lord is ras (रस) totheuncomplaining selfless devote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6c38scPY1o&t=1001 16 this kind of selfless love, love that is  for the sake of the beloved without  self-seeking, if it fills our  Head, we will progress very rapidly  towards our ultimate goal, we will not  have to complain so many years have gone  by in devotion and I'm not moving ahead,  the reason is you move ahead 2 feet and  then come back 3 feet, then move ahead 3  feet then come back 2 feet because of  selfish desires so this is the first  condition of sadhana bhakti  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6c38scPY1o&t=1159 17 now remember there are two kinds of bhakti, one is Sidha bhakti (सिध्द भक्ति), divine love which is a power of God that we will receive by His grace and another is Sadhan bhakti (साधन भक्ति) we will do to prepare the vessel of our heart and I have explained to you the first condition of sadhan bhakti is nishkama (selflessness), don't ask God for material boons https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6c38scPY1o&t=1201 Transcript 0:00 today you go oh Shri Krishna please 0:04 fulfill this one wish of mine after this 0:07 I'll never ask you now tomorrow again 0:10 we'll say Shri Krishna you listen to me 0:13 the last time please fulfill this I'll 0:16 never ask you if you wish to succeed in 0:19 your 0:20 devotion remember not to make this 0:23 mistake what is that 0:45 learn from this story of the Arab sheikh 0:49 who had 30 wives in his Haram and when 0:53 he went for his first visit to Europe he 0:56 found so many attractive gifts that 1:01 he was a little overwhelmed what gifts 1:04 to get for his wives he wrote to them 1:08 asking what they would like for him to 1:11 bring they all gave their wish list 1:16 except the youngest wife who simply sent 1:19 a letter with the numeral one on 1:24 it the Arab sheikh had enough to purchase 1:28 all the gifts and brought them 1:30 back and sent them to his 29 wives but 1:35 went to meet his young 30th wife himself 1:40 with the letter and said my dear what 1:44 did you mean by this 1:47 one she said I wanted you and nothing 1:51 else and now I have got 1:55 you God too says decide do you want the 2:00 world or do you want me if you want me 2:04 then don't come to me for material 2:07 desires this is the verdict of all the 2:11 bhakti 2:13 scriptures 2:45 you must not do sakam bhakti 2:49 but nishkam devotion 2:54 Selfless 2:57 Love so what is the problem in going to 3:01 God for material 3:03 rewards the problem is 3:06 this if we go to God with material 3:11 desires it is not Devotion to God but 3:14 devotion of our material desire  let us 3:19 say you visit the temple for 40 days 3:23 with this wish oh God please let my 3:29 child become all right your mind is 3:33 attached not to God but to the 3:36 child so what you are doing in effect is 3:40 bhakti of your child care of 3:43 God bhakti means taking your mind to God 3:49 and that is not 3:52 happening  think a little 3:54 further when we go and demand things 3:58 from the Lord is he going to fulfill our 4:01 wishes merely because of our 4:04 asking somebody said we think he's like 4:07 a cosmic bell boy that we press the Bell 4:10 oh God please get this for me and he'll 4:13 say yes here it 4:15 is  well even in the world if you ask 4:19 somebody for something there must be a 4:23 basis supposing you were to just wave 4:27 your hand at a car passing by stop 4:30 the driver breaks and says what is the 4:32 matter I need to go to such and such 4:37 place can you please take me the driver 4:40 thinks he's out of his mind dangerous 4:43 man let me exit while it's still safe he 4:46 lifts the window pane presses the 4:48 accelerator and is on his way but going 4:52 ahead he finds his friend and slows down 4:55 himself Sharma ji where are you going I'm 4:59 just taking evening walk come walk in my 5:02 car how can I walk in your car but he's 5:06 insisting that Sharma ji should come in 5:09 his car because Sharma ji is his 5:13 acquaintance and the other guy was in 5:15 need he had to visit the hospital to 5:19 meet a patient who required his 5:22 attendance and there he thinks he's a 5:24 mad man because the relationship is not 5:28 there  5:30 likewise when we have not created a 5:33 relationship with God on what basis do 5:36 we ask most people have no idea who is 5:40 this God they just have a picture in 5:43 their shop that when I lift the shutter 5:46 I'll take a two paise agarbatti and turn it 5:48 around and that also I don't know 5:51 whether he exists or not but if I'm 5:52 getting insurance for two paise why not 5:55 but wherever they are in problem they go 5:59 to the 6:02 picture now why should god listen when 6:06 you've not created that 6:09 relationship  6:11 nevertheless take this discussion one 6:14 step 6:15 further some people say you know I have 6:19 created I have established my 6:22 relationship with God and if I ask 6:26 Hanuman ji for anything he definitely 6:30 gives it if that is the case then why 6:34 are you asking Hanuman ji for broken 6:36 pieces of glass why don't you ask him 6:39 for love of ram bhagvat prem  6:43 or why not ask him what 6:48 prahalad beseeched when Narsingh Bhagwan 6:52 manifested and he killed and He killed  6:56 Hiranyakashyipu, at that time he lifted Prahalad 7:00 and 7:05 said my child I am very pleased with 7:10 your devotion ask what you 7:13 want Prahalad said my Lord am I hearing 7:16 right yes what do you 7:19 want Prahalad gave such a response that 7:23 Narsingh Bhagwan was 7:26 silenced he said 7:33 my Lord if I ask you I will not remain 7:37 your devotee but will become a 7:41 businessman this is business I engaged 7:44 in your loving devotion now give me this 7:49 my job is to serve you not to 7:54 ask Narsingh Bhagwan began thinking when I 7:59 give Darshan I tell devotees to ask and Prahalad 8:04 is a 5-year-old he says I'm not a 8:06 businessman I'm simply your loving 8:11 devotee but then Prahalad did not stop 8:16 there he 8:18 said Maharaj if you are asking me to 8:23 seek a boon I must fulfill your 8:27 instruction because 8:33 the service is done in accordance with 8:36 the Master's 8:38 desires so if you want me to ask this is 8:43 what I 8:54 say my 8:56 Lord please bestow this boon on me that 9:01 I should never ask you for anything 9:07 Ever, think about 9:10 that the profundity (great depth of knowledge or thought) of Prahalad's 9:15 statement he is saying if there is the 9:18 slightest tinge of selfish seeking in me 9:22 All I ask is for it to be destroyed so 9:26 that I become a truly selfless lover of 9:32 yours because in this process of asking 9:37 there's a big 9:38 danger there is no end to desires today  9:42 you go oh Shri Krishna please fulfill 9:47 this one wish of mine after this I'll 9:50 never ask 9:51 you now tomorrow again we'll say Shri 9:54 Krishna you listen to me the last time 9:57 please fulfill this I'll never ask you 10:00 there is no guarantee that our wish will 10:03 be fulfilled because Shree Krishna upholds 10:06 the law of 10:12 karma you get as you deserve not as you 10:17 desire so when our wishes are fulfilled 10:19 we'll say Shri Krishna is so nice when 10:22 it is not fulfilled we'll say he doesn't 10:24 listen to me how hard-hearted he is our 10:28 devotion will go up and down so many 10:31 times a day how will we progress in our 10:36 love to the 10:38 Lord   here understand the basis of love 10:44 from my latest book spiritual secrets 10:48 from 10:51 Hinduism business is a transactional 10:54 activity characterized by give and take 11:00 we give to the other party with the 11:02 intention of reciprocation in 11:05 anticipation of gain for 11:08 ourselves those engaged in business are 11:10 inevitably concerned about what they 11:13 stand to receive in 11:16 return we often make the same mistake 11:19 while engaging in Devotion to God we go 11:23 to the temple and beseech the Lord for 11:26 Material 11:27 boons this is like doing business 11:31 with him Selfless Love is the Stark 11:35 opposite of business in such love we 11:39 desire only to give give 11:43 give without the expectation of 11:47 reciprocation Chaitanya Mahaprabhu said 11:50  where the desire is simply for self 11:54 happiness that is lust where the desire 11:59 is for the Lord's happiness that is love 12:03 lust is like 12:05 darkness while love is pure like the 12:13 such a beautiful example of Love is given 12:18 of the mythical chatak bird’s love for vide https://www.instagram.com/maakripadham/reel/DCg2tnTsZ0m/ 12:24 the Swati 12:26 Cloud it only drinks water of the Swati 12:31 Cloud the cloud that forms in the Swati 12:35 nakshatra it is not an 12:38 opportunist and it patiently waits for 12:42 the cloud to appear no matter how 12:45 thirsty it may be   so Swami Tulsidas says 13:05 the chatak bird is not an opportunist when in 13:09 need go running to the temple when the 13:13 need is not there I don't have time 13:15 otherwise I'd have definitely gone for 13:18 the 13:19 Kirtans this chatak remains fixed in its 13:24 devotion to the Swati cloud’s downpour 13:30 and it doesn't mind the bad behavior of 13:35 its 13:36 beloved when we love we seek positive 13:40 reciprocation now imagine if you were to 13:43 go to the temple and come back and see a 13:46 theft in your house you'd say what kind 13:49 of reciprocation did God do I will no 13:53 longer visit the 13:55 temple but look at the chatak selfless love 14:14 it is waiting for the Divine water of 14:17 its beloved and the cloud thunders 14:21 scolds it has lightning teases it and 14:25 even drops hail 14:29 but the chat does not mind it sings a 14:33 song to please its 14:36 beloved the takeaway is no matter how 14:40 God behaves with the devotee the devotee 14:43 does not do a mood off when Shree Krishna 14:48 lifted the chariot wheel and came 14:50 angrily to kill Bhishma in the Battle of 14:55 Mahabharat Bhishma did not say I'm your 14:58 devotee and you behave with me like this 15:00 how dare you I'll no longer remain 15:03 connected to you instead he broke into a 15:07 broad 15:09 smile Shree Krishna had come forward with 15:13 great fury his eyes were red there was 15:16 rage on his face and he was grinding his 15:19 teeth but he saw Bhishma smiling he 15:23 stopped in his 15:24 tracks  Bhishma said my Lord why have you 15:28 stopped 15:29 you had taken a vow that I will not lift 15:33 weapons in this war and I took a vow 15:38 that if my devotion for you is true you 15:43 will – a “verse” 16:06 If today Shri Krishna does not lift 16:10 weapons for me I am not the son of 16:14 shantanu and mother 16:17 ganga come forward my 16:20 Lord that angry form of his ishtdev 16:24 Bhishma filled it in his eyes and when 16:29 he was felled on the battlefield for 6 months 16:33 he meditated on that form 16:41 itself again the takeaway is in whatever 16:45 way God behaves the devote chooses to 16:49 see Ras in it “मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम्”  16:52 just like the jalebi is round 16:56 round and yet full of ras 16:59 every behavior of the Lord is ras to 17:03 the 17:04 uncomplaining selfless devote  now look 17:08 what happened with the 17:10 chatak months had gone by without any 17:14 rain from Swati cloud and this chatak 17:18 was 17:20 thirsty flying in the air it had become 17:24 dizzy finally as a respite it came and 17:28 sat on the branch of a tree and 17:31 regained a little bit of 17:34 energy – a “chaupai” 17:41 but then on gaining consciousness the 17:46 chatak realized that this tree has been 17:49 irrigated by water from below not the 17:53 water of my beloved 18:01 it flew off I will die I will faint 18:06 unconscious but I will not stay on this 18:08 tree that has insulted my 18:11 beloved however in the meantime a hunter 18:14 below had spied it and taken aim and 18:17 released the 18:18 arrow the arrow went and hit the chatak in 18:22 its beak and pierced by the arrow the 18:26 poor bird started falling 18:44 below was the ganga jal 18:46 flowing the chatak was falling pierced by 18:49 the 18:51 arrow yet in that distressful situation 18:56 it retained its consciousness 18:59 and realized this is not the water of my 19:02 beloved I will not permit it into my 19:05 mouth it turned its beak around in the 19:09 jerk its life airs the pran left the 19:12 body but the love of the chatak remained 19:16 without a blemish nishkalank 19:19 this kind of selfless love love that is 19:24 for the sake of the beloved without 19:27 self-seeking if it fills our 19:31 head we will progress very rapidly 19:36 towards our ultimate goal we will not 19:40 have to complain so many years have gone 19:44 by in devotion and I'm not moving ahead 19:48 the reason is you move ahead 2 feet and 19:50 then come back 3 feet then move ahead 3 19:53 feet then come back 2 feet because of 19:55 selfish desires so this is the first 20:01 condition of sadhana bhakti  now remember 20:06 there are two kinds of bhakti one is 20:11 Sidha bhakti Divine love which is a power of God 20:15 that we will receive by his grace and 20:17 another is sadhan bhakti we will do to 20:21 prepare the vessel of our heart and I 20:24 have explained to you the first 20:27 condition of sadhan bhakti 20:29 is 20:32 nishkama 20:34 selflessness don't ask God for material 20:38 boons we will now move on to the other 20:42 aspects of sadhana bhakti and then conclude 20:46 this series with discussions on 20:49 meditation and ekant sadhna Standby link (in case youtube link does not work): The Power of NOT Asking from God - The Ultimate Relationship with Shree Krishna Swami Mukundananda.mp4

Avoid these 3 Desires for Spiritual Progress | Lord Krishna Warns - by Swami Mukundanand

Avoid these 3 Desires for Spiritual Progress | Lord Krishna Warns - by Swami Mukundanand

https://youtu.be/7p2t7-CympQ *Main Points*:  1 By our knowledge, we are able to discriminate this is correct, this is incorrect,  however Shri Krishna says Arjun even knowledge gets shrouded  and he gives three examples   https://youtu.be/7p2t7-CympQ&t=88 2 Krishna says (1) just like  fire gets covered by smoke,  (2) just like  a mirror gets covered by dust,  and (3) just like an embryo is covered by  the womb,  similarly this desire to enjoy the  material energy  covers the knowledge of the soul,  these three examples, He has given are  related to the three gunas  satogun, mode of goodness,  rajogun mode of passion and tamogun mode  of ignorance   https://youtu.be/7p2t7-CympQ&t=112 3 the first example, satogun person:   the fire is covered by smoke, it is  mildly covered,  the fire is still visible  and the visibility has reduced slightly,  but you can see the fire practically, so similarly is with the mode of goodness when  this dominates,  then the knowledge of the intellect, the  discrimination, is slightly covered,  so a person in the mode of goodness,  person is not doing what society would call  sinful things,  the person is cultivating knowledge,  doing good deeds  etc.  But yet doesn't have the pure  discrimination,  that could lead to the final connection with God   https://youtu.be/7p2t7-CympQ&t=160 4 he's not a transcendentalist and  that is why he is still not satisfied, he  is feeling a hunger within,  I am doing all these good deeds, I am  feeding the poor and I'm opening  hospitals but still the complete  satisfaction has not come, something is  missing – the connection with God ,i.e., the internal motivation to work for the pleasure of God is lacking    https://youtu.be/7p2t7-CympQ&t=224 5 and then we have the mode of passion,  this is compared with a mirror being  covered by dust,  now the visibility is further reduced,  now that person  is not really able to see things as they  are,  the vision has got more distorted,  so the mode of passion  would create deep attachments within the  family,  the person is not able to see that one  day I'll have to leave everybody and go  away,  would create great hankering  for enhancement of wealth, enhancement of  prestige, so it shrouds the intellect   https://youtu.be/7p2t7-CympQ&t=274 6 I like to give a story,  there was a man  walking by the side of a forest  in the evening,  he enjoyed his walking  so  he thought today let's walk in the  forest,  he entered the forest,  now he went a couple of miles in and the  light started falling,  so he thought before it becomes dark let  me exit from this forest  https://youtu.be/7p2t7-CympQ&t=330 7 he turned around and started walking  back to the road but then he found that  some animals had appeared,  so these animals were scary  and they were ferocious & carnivores so he turned around and  decided to run deeper into the forest, as he was running he found a witch standing there, then there was a pit and some grass and vine was over it, he could not see clearly, he fell head long but his luck was such that his feet got  entangled in the vine, now he was hanging upside down   https://youtu.be/7p2t7-CympQ&t=367 8 and he found there's a snake at the bottom of the pit, in the meantime two mice came, one black mouse and one white mouse and  they started nibbling  at the branch from which the vine was hanging, and then some bees made their appearance, and they started biting him on the face, BUT IN THAT SITUATION THIS PERSON WAS  FOUND TO BE SMILING   https://youtu.be/7p2t7-CympQ&t=449 9 so all the philosophers of Virginia and  Maryland got together, how can he smile  in this situation,  so  they looked up  and they found a beehive,  some honey was falling from the beehive  onto his mouth,  he was licking that  the honey is so tasty,  he had forgotten about the mice,  the snake,  the witch,  and the bees and those animals   https://youtu.be/7p2t7-CympQ&t=501 10 you will say what a grass fool he was, he did not have the discrimination  to analyze and understand the precariousness (dangerous) of his position,  but this is what rajogun the mode of passion does to us   https://youtu.be/7p2t7-CympQ&t=541 11 those animals that were chasing him, these are diseases that start chasing us in life the knowledge of the intellect has shrouded, the discrimination has been covered, why ? mode of passion has done it https://youtu.be/7p2t7-CympQ&t=687 17 and then Krishna says that like the embryo is addicts   https://youtu.be/7p2t7-CympQ&t=706 18 the next injection dose of the drug addict or whatever, it is the intellect is so shrouded, all they want is that joint of theirs, and they will do anything for it, what is the cause of all the crime in New York, all the addiction, they need that joint and if they have to steal, they have to loot, they have to engage in dacoity or even kill, they don't mind - that is the extent to which the intellect of the tamogun persons has got shrouded https://youtu.be/7p2t7-CympQ&t=761 19 So Shree Krishna says Arjun, this material  energy  has given us the facility to enjoy in  terms of the three gunas but as we  associate with it, that intellect, its  discrimination starts getting lost   https://youtu.be/7p2t7-CympQ&t=796 Transcript 0:03 okay now your cholesterol has increased 0:06 now watch your sugar count and don't eat 0:10 this don't eat that now the BP has also 0:12 increased 0:13 time in the form of death it's willing 0:16 to finish us off, meet us in the form of 0:20 death 0:21 out of the coffee and the television we 0:24 forget what our situation is 0:27 isn't that a fact 0:31 bhagavad-gita chapter 3, verse 38, Karma Yoga verse 0:36 chanting is followed by translation and 0:39 commentary by Swami mukundananda Bhagavad Gita Chapter 3 Verse 38 Chanting 0:55 yet Bhagavad Gita Chapter 3 Verse 38 Translation by Swami Mukundananda 1:09 just as a fire is covered by smoke 1:14 a mirror is masked by dust and an embryo 1:19 is concealed by the womb 1:22 similarly once knowledge gets shrouded 1:26 by desire 1:28 Commentary by Swami Mukundananda: Avoid these 3 desires for spiritual progress. 1:33 By our knowledge, we are able to discriminate this is 1:36 correct this is incorrect 1:41 however Shri Krishna says Arjun even 1:45 knowledge gets shrouded 1:48 and he gives three examples! 1:52 he says just like 1:55 Fire gets covered by smoke 2:00 just like 2:02 a mirror gets covered by dust 2:06 and just like an embryo is covered by 2:09 the womb 2:11 similarly this desire to enjoy the 2:15 material energy 2:17 covers the knowledge of the Soul 2:22 these three examples he has given are 2:26 related to the three gunas 2:29 satogun, mode of goodness 2:31 rajogun mode of passion and tamogun mode 2:35 of ignorance! 2:40 the first example 2:42 the fire is covered by smoke it is 2:45 mildly covered 2:48 the fire is still visible 2:51 and the visibility has reduced slightly 2:54 but you can see the fire practically 2:57 not clearly but still 3:00 so similarly is with the mode of goodness when 3:04 this dominates 3:06 then the knowledge of the intellect the 3:09 discrimination is slightly covered 3:14 so a person in the mode of goodness 3:17 is not doing what society would call 3:20 sinful things 3:22 the person is cultivating knowledge 3:25 doing good deeds 3:28 etc 3:29 But yet doesn't have the pure 3:33 discrimination 3:35 that could lead to the final connection 3:38 with God 3:41 so that is a good person 3:44 but he's not a transcendentalist and 3:48 that is why he is still not satisfied he 3:52 is feeling a hunger within you know 3:55 I am doing all these Good Deeds I am 3:58 feeding the poor and I'm opening 4:00 hospitals but still the complete 4:03 satisfaction has not come something is 4:06 Missing! 4:08 so what is missing is he is still acting 4:10 from the platform of goodness the 4:14 transcendental platform would be that you do 4:17 everything in the service of God whether 4:20 it was feeding the poor opening 4:23 hospitals but the internal motivation 4:26 would be for the pleasure of God so the 4:30 the knowledge is slightly shrouded 4:34 and then we have the mode of passion 4:38 this is compared with a mirror being 4:42 covered by dust 4:44 now the visibility is further reduced 4:50 now that person 4:52 is not really able to see things as they 4:55 are 4:57 the vision has got more distorted 5:01 so the mode of passion 5:03 would create deep attachments within the 5:06 family 5:08 the person is not able to see that one 5:10 day I'll have to leave everybody and go 5:12 away 5:13 would create great hankering 5:16 for enhancement of wealth enhancement of 5:19 prestige! 5:21 this is the result of the mode of 5:23 passion 5:25 so it shrouds the intellect 5:30 I like to give a story 5:32 in this regard 5:34 you may have heard it from me in the 5:36 past 5:37 there was a man 5:39 walking by the side of a forest 5:43 in the evening 5:46 he enjoyed his walking 5:48 so 5:50 he thought today let's walk in the 5:52 forest 5:53 he entered the forest 5:56 now he went a couple of miles in and the 6:00 light started falling 6:02 so he thought before it becomes dark let 6:05 me exit from this Forest 6:07 he turned around and started walking 6:10 back to the road but then he found that 6:12 some animals had appeared 6:16 so these animals were scary 6:19 and they were ferocious! 6:21 carnivores so he turned around and 6:24 decided to run deeper into the forest! 6:28 now 6:30 as he was running he found a witch 6:33 standing there 6:35 the witch had its arms open come here I 6:40 shall latch on to you 6:43 he said what is this 6:45 now he turned perpendicular at 90 6:48 degrees and continued his running away 6:51 from the witch and the animals 6:54 he didn't realize it had become dark by 6:57 now 6:58 there was a pit 7:00 and some grass and vine was over it he 7:03 could not see clearly he fell head long 7:07 but his luck was such that his feet got 7:10 entangled in the vine 7:14 now he was hanging upside down 7:18 on top of the pit 7:20 his head below and his feet above 7:24 after a couple of minutes he came to 7:27 sufficient senses 7:29 to see and he found there's a snake at 7:32 the bottom of the pit 7:35 you fall I will bite you 7:40 he said I will not fall 7:42 maybe in the morning somebody will 7:44 discover me 7:46 in the meantime two mice came 7:49 one black mouse and one white mouse and 7:52 they started nibbling 7:54 at the branch from which the vine was 7:56 hanging 7:58 this is a very temporary situation 8:02 and then some bees made their appearance 8:04 and they started biting him on the face 8:08 now what a precarious position to be in 8:13 but in that situation this person was 8:17 found to be smiling 8:21 so all the philosophers of Virginia and 8:24 Maryland got together how can he smile 8:27 in this situation 8:31 so 8:32 they looked up 8:34 and they found a beehive 8:37 some honey was falling from the Beehive 8:41 onto his mouth 8:43 he was licking that 8:46 the honey is so tasty 8:49 he had forgotten about the mice 8:52 the snake 8:54 the witch 8:55 and the bees and those animals! 9:01 you will say 9:02 what a grass fool he was 9:06 he did not have the discrimination 9:10 to analyze and understand the 9:13 precariousness of his position 9:15 but this is what rajogun the mode of 9:19 passion does to us! 9:24 those animals that were chasing him 9:28 these are diseases that start chasing us 9:33 in life! 9:35 okay now your cholesterol has increased 9:40 now watch your sugar count 9:43 and don't eat this don't eat that now 9:45 the BP has also increased so these are 9:48 the animals that get after us 9:51 and that witch which was standing there 9:54 is old age 9:56 willing to embrace us 9:59 come 10:00 I will latch on to you! 10:03 as somebody said 10:10 once it came it never left till the very 10:12 end this is “Budhapa” (बुड़ापा), the old age 10:19 जो जा कर ना आये हो जवानी देखी, which once it left it never came back 10:22 so that is the witch 10:26 and 10:28 the snake at the bottom of the pit 10:31 is 10:33 time in the form of death 10:35 it's willing to finish us off 10:38 meet us in the form of death! 10:42 the mice that had made their appearance 10:45 and were nibbling at the branches one 10:49 white mouse one black mouse these are 10:51 day and night one by one they are 10:54 reducing our lifespan! 10:57 the bees that came and started stinging 11:00 him on the face are innumerable desires 11:04 that arise and disturb us 11:09 and yet the little bit of honey he was 11:13 getting he had forgotten his situation 11:17 out of the coffee and the television 11:21 we forget what our situation is 11:25 isn't that a fact! 11:27 so what has happened the knowledge of 11:31 the intellect has got shrouded 11:35 the discrimination 11:37 has been covered 11:40 why this mode of passion has done it! 11:46 and then he says the embryo is covered 11:50 by the womb this is the mode of 11:53 ignorance it totally shrouds the 11:58 discrimination 11:59 what does it do 12:03 it covers the soul in darkness 12:07 you look at the addicts 12:10 the drug addicts the alcohol addicts! 12:14 because as I travel around the country I 12:17 do have satsangi devotees whose 12:20 children are drug addicts 12:22 and they are so harassed swamiji we are 12:25 from good families give them good 12:27 upbringing 12:29 and what has it come to not 12:31 my child is not willing to listen he 12:34 even wants to break his connection with 12:37 me as long as he gets the next joint or 12:39 whatever it's called 12:41 the next Mac or whatever it is the 12:44 intellect is so shrouded all they want 12:47 is that joint of theirs 12:49 and they will do anything for it 12:53 what is the cause of all the crime in 12:55 New York 12:57 all the addiction 12:59 they need that joint and if they have to 13:03 steal they have to loot they have to 13:05 engage in dacoity or even kill 13:08 they don't mind that is the extent to 13:11 which the intellect has got shrouded! 13:16 So Shree Krishna says Arjun this material 13:19 energy 13:21 has given us the facility to enjoy in 13:26 terms of the three gunas but as we 13:29 associate with it that intellect its 13:32 discrimination starts getting lost Standby link (in case youtube link does not work): Avoid these 3 Desires for Spiritual Progress Lord Krishna Warns Swami Mukundananda Gita.mp4

Why am I Here if I am a PART of GOD ? by Swami Mukundanand

Why am I Here if I am a PART of GOD? by Swami Mukundanand

    https://youtu.be/ZLtubMBTtk8

Main Points: 1 Separated from Bhagavan So far in the Bhakti Shatak, Shri Maharaj Ji has explained that there is one tattwa (Divine Entity) which has taken on the forms of Krishna and Radha. And He has got many shaktis (energies) apart from Radha. So Kripalu Ji Maharaj divided the uncountable shaktis (energies) of Bhagavan (God) into Maya shakti (material energy), Jeev shakti (soul) and Para shakti or Yogmaya shakti (Divine energy of God). https://youtu.be/ZLtubMBTtk8&t=0 2 He explained that the Jeev shakti is a tattashtha shakti; it is a borderline shakti (energy). Like you have the ‘tat’ of the river, the river bank is called the ‘tat’, nadi tat (river bank). It is a part of the earth, but it is under the water.Similarly, the soul is a part of God, and yet, it’s overcome by Maya.!So Kripalu Ji Maharaj here is explaining why Maya got the soul under its grip. The fact is that soul and God are together. https://youtu.be/ZLtubMBTtk8&t=72 3 God is everywhere. The Vedas say God is sitting inside the atma (soul). He is sitting everywhere in the earth. He is everywhere in the water. Again the Veda mantra say there is no place where God doesn't exist. https://youtu.be/ZLtubMBTtk8&t=127 4 The soul is separate from God, so how then has the soul become separate from God? What is the separation? It is said we are separate from God, that is why we are under Maya. Where is the separation? He is sitting inside you. He is nitya nirantar prapt - what does nitya nirantar prapt mean?It means He is eternally inside us. Our soul is nitya or eternal, not by its own power butbecause the supremely eternal God is sitting inside our soul and granting us immortality. That is why we are eternal. And our soul is sentient, it has got life in it. Because the mahachetan bhagavan (supremely sentient God) is sitting inside the soul. So God will not leave us for a moment. https://youtu.be/ZLtubMBTtk8&t=174 5 God is inside us, If He does (go to sleep for a little while), our personality will cease to exist. In other words, our satta (existence) will no longer remain. We exist because God is inside us. That is why He is nitya prapt, He is eternally with us. Also He is everywhere in this world. The Vedas say there is no place where God does not exist. Since He is everywhere in this world, that means wherever we go God is there. And hence, He is incessantly with us, eternally plus incessantly with us. Then how come this material energy, Maya, has overpowered us? This is a riddle! Actually, Jeev (soul), Maya (material energy) and Brahm (God) all three are in the same place.   https://youtu.be/ZLtubMBTtk8&t=254 6 You see, inside the Jeev (soul) is God.  And the Jeev (soul) is under Maya (material energy).  So, Jeev, Maya and God are in the same place.  The world is made of Maya and God is all pervading in it.  That means Maya and God are in the same place.  So, all these three tattwas (entities) are together.  What then is separating the Jeev (soul) from Bhagavan (God)?  What is the cause of this separation?   https://youtu.be/ZLtubMBTtk8&t=334 7 Kripalu Ji Maharaj explains in this verse.  He says, "Krishna bahirmukha jeev kaha.”  The Jeev (soul) has turned its back to God.  Now, if God is everywhere, how do you turn your back to God?  What it means is the consciousness has been turned away from God.  Our consciousness is bereft of God. That is the ‘bahirmukhta’.  Tulsi Das Ji writes,  He says, "Hari te bilaganu." The soul forgot God.  And what was the consequence of that?  Because of that mistake, which one - forgetting God,  the soul then started thinking of itself as the body.  And because of that it is now running in the world.   https://youtu.be/ZLtubMBTtk8&t=371 8 Chaitanya Mahaprabhu said the same thing.  “Krishna bhuli sei jeev haye anadi bahirmukh”  Krishna bhuli means the Jeev (soul) forgot God and thus, it’s bahirmukh (turned away from God). Hence, the material energy, Maya, is troubling the soul.  https://youtu.be/ZLtubMBTtk8&t=457 9 You know, what is the most terrible form of torture?  When two armies are at war and one army catches another army person.  They want to extract some secret out of that person.  In the olden days, the kings would do it. They torture that person to extract some secret.  And how would they torture the person?  They would dunk that person's head into the water.  When he is gasping almost, 'My God! I am going to die’, they would release him.  And he takes a few breaks, again they put him in.  So that breaks the person. He says, "Alright, alright, I will tell you. Don’t do this to me again.”   https://youtu.be/ZLtubMBTtk8&t=488 10 So Chaitanya Mahaprabhu says,"The material energy, Maya, is doing the same thing to the soul."  The soul gets a little bit of happiness.  I am dulha raja (i.e., I am getting married) today; I am so happy.  I am going on a white horse and drums are playing for me.  But how long does it last?  char din ki chandni (it lasts for a limited time)  After that, the harsh reality! You have to work from morning to night to feed your children,  and listen to the abuses of the boss.  So the soul is dunked in. “O my God! So terrible! So miserable!”   https://youtu.be/ZLtubMBTtk8&t=542 11 Another example of troubling / torture of sou lright, go for three days to Las Vegas. Enjoy yourself.  Hah!  Then again you are dunked (dip the head into a drink)!  Now wait for the next long weekend and go to Tampa, Florida.   Hah!   That is what is going on.   So, Kripalu Ji Maharaj is expressing that same siddhant (principle)   that the soul is with its back to God, and hence, the material energy, Maya, has overcome it.   And what did Maya do?   tate bhulyo apu kaha banyo visaya rasa meen (meaning), now the soul has forgotten itself.   https://youtu.be/ZLtubMBTtk8&t=590 12 Somebody who doesn’t know himself or herself would be called a mad person.   Right?   So we also have forgotten ourselves.   Being the eternal soul, we are thinking of ourself to be the body.   I am Ramesh Srivastav; I am Gujrati, Marwari, Sindhi, Punjabi, Bengali.   We are thinking of ourself to be the body. That is the sign of madness.   https://youtu.be/ZLtubMBTtk8&t=637 13 The sign of a mad person is that they forget who they are.   The problem arises if you become mad for a little while and then you become alright.   You see, some people have the bipolar disorder.   What happens when you have a bipolar disorder?   For sometime you are alright, and then you become abnormal.   There was this person who used to have these fits of madness.   Now, when he would become mad, he would totally lose sense of who he is.    And when he would become alright, he would start serving everybody else and be absolutely normal.   In the same way, from time to time we wake up and we realize, 'Oh, who I am’, and then we forget completely.   And when we forget our spiritual identity, then the natural consequence is that we start running after the pleasures of the body.   Because we decide that I am the body.   And hence, the bodily pleasures will give me satisfaction.   So, we are running, running, running, running.   And this running around, nobody is getting satisfaction.   https://youtu.be/ZLtubMBTtk8&t=672 14 You know, a person went to a mad house. He met two mad persons - one who failed to marry one girl Lulu & the other who married Lulu !  The fact is that there is no happiness in the world, but in this confusion of being the body, we are running after the world. https://youtu.be/ZLtubMBTtk8&t=760 15 Now, our running after the world is like trying to listen to the lecture through the eyes.   Similarly, the soul is divine and the body is material.   So the object of the body is the material world.   And the object of the soul is the divine God.   That's why the happiness that the soul wants is from the divine realm, not from the material world.   So why is this confusion happening? Because of Maya.   https://youtu.be/ZLtubMBTtk8&t=846 16 Cinema Hall: Maya is like the darkness. Like if you go to a cinema hall, inside the cinema hall in darkness, people sit in illusion, people accept it as the reality, and that's why in a tragedy scene half the hall used to be crying, and the moment the main switch came on and there were lights in the hall, everybody's illusion was dispelled. 'Oh, where are my slippers?' 'I hope my keys have not fallen. Let me be the first one to the scooter stand. After that there will be a lot of traffic.’ The reason for the illusion is the darkness of the cinema hall. https://youtu.be/ZLtubMBTtk8&t=907 17 Similarly, the reason for all this confusion is the darkness that has enveloped the soul.   And that darkness is of the nature of Maya (material energy).   Why has Maya (material energy) overcome us?   Because we have turned our backs towards the light.   Krishna “surya sama” (Krishna is like the sun)   God is like the sun.   We have turned our backs towards the sun, and hence, the darkness of Maya has overcome us.      https://youtu.be/ZLtubMBTtk8&t=1025 Transcript Separated from Bhagavan 0:33 So far in the Bhakti Shatak, Shri Maharaj Ji has explained 0:40 that there is one tattwa (Divine Entity) which has taken on the forms of Krishna and Radha. 0:51 And He has got many shaktis (energies) apart from Radha. 0:57 So Kripalu Ji Maharaj divided the uncountable shaktis (energies) of Bhagavan (God) 1:03 into Maya shakti (material energy), Jeev shakti (soul) and Para shakti or Yogmaya shakti (Divine energy of God).! 1:12 He explained that the Jeev shakti is a tattashtha shakti; it is a borderline shakti (energy). 1:22 Like you have the ‘tat’ of the river, the river bank is called the ‘tat’, nadi tat (river bank). 1:32 It is a part of the earth, but it is under the water. 1:38 Similarly, the soul is a part of God, and yet, it’s overcome by Maya.! 1:48 So Kripalu Ji Maharaj here is explaining why Maya got the soul under its grip. 1:59 The fact is that soul and God are together.! God is everywhere 2:07 God is everywhere. 2:11 (Scriptural verse) 2:21 The Vedas say God is sitting inside the atma (soul). 2:27 He is sitting everywhere in the earth. 2:30 He is everywhere in the water. 2:33 (Scriptural verse) 2:44 Again the Veda mantra say there is no place where God doesn't exist.! The soul is separate from God 2:54 So how then has the soul become separate from God? 2:59 What is the separation? 3:03 It is said we are separate from God, that is why we are under Maya. 3:10 Where is the separation? You have to work from morning to night to feed your children, 9:40 and listen to the abuses of the boss. 9:44 So the soul is dunked in. “O my God! So terrible! So miserable!”! 9:50 Alright, go for three days to Las Vegas. Enjoy yourself. 9:53 Hah! 9:55 Then again you are dunked! 9:56 Now wait for the next long weekend and go to Tampa, Florida. 10:00 Hah! 10:04 That is what is going on. 10:07 So, Kripalu Ji Maharaj is expressing that same siddhant (principle) 10:13 that the soul is with its back to God, and hence, the material energy, Maya, has overcome it. 10:24 And what did Maya do? 10:26 tate bhulyo apu kaha banyo visaya rasa meen (meaning) Now the soul has forgotten itself.! 10:37 Somebody who doesn’t know himself or herself would be called a mad person. Mad person 10:46 Right? 10:48 So we also have forgotten ourselves. 10:52 Being the eternal soul, we are thinking of ourself to be the body. 10:58 I am Ramesh Srivastav; I am Gujrati, Marwari, Sindhi, Punjabi, Bengali. 11:06 We are thinking of ourself to be the body. That is the sign of madness.! 11:12 The sign of a mad person is that they forget who they are. 11:18 The problem arises if you become mad for a little while and then you become alright. 11:25 You see, some people have the bipolar disorder. 11:30 What happens when you have a bipolar disorder? 11:33 For sometime you are alright, and then you become abnormal. 11:37 There was this person who used to have these fits of madness. 11:42 Now, when he would become mad, he would totally lose sense of who he is. 11:48 And when he would become alright, he would start serving everybody else and be absolutely normal. 11:54 In the same way, from time to time we wake up and we realize, 'Oh, who I am’, and then we forget completely. 12:03 And when we forget our spiritual identity, then the natural consequence is that we start running after the pleasures of the body. 12:19 Because we decide that I am the body. 12:23 And hence, the bodily pleasures will give me satisfaction. Lulu 12:31 So, we are running, running, running, running. 12:34 And this running around, nobody is getting satisfaction.! 12:40 You know, a person went to a mad house.! 12:45 And he went to the first room. 12:48 There was a man there who was doing lulu, lulu... 12:57 He asked the warden, "What is this 'lulu, lulu' he is doing?" 13:03 The warden said, "You know, there was this beautiful damsel called Lulu and this man loved her. 13:11 Now, she didn't marry him. She married somebody else, so he went insane. 13:18 And that's why he sits here and does Lulu, Lulu, Lulu. 13:23 Now, this man went to the next room. 13:26 There also the person was sitting and doing Lulu, Lulu... 13:35 He asked the warden, "Was this Lulu characterless? Did she have many lovers?” 13:42 The warden said, "This is the man who married Lulu." 13:50 He also went mad. 13:53 So, the fact is that there is no happiness in the world, but in this confusion of being the body 14:02 we are running after the world. 14:06 Now, our running after the world is like trying to listen to the lecture through the eyes. 14:15 Why did you not come for my lecture? 14:18 "Swamiji, I was experimenting to listen to the television with my eyes." 14:23 How can you listen with the eyes? 14:26 The eyes grasp form. 14:29 And the ears grasp words. 14:34 Similarly, the soul is divine and the body is material. 14:42 So the object of the body is the material world. 14:47 And the object of the soul is the divine God. 14:52 That's why the happiness that the soul wants is from the divine realm, not from the material world. 15:01 So why is this confusion happening? Because of Maya.! Cinema Hall 15:07 Maya is like the darkness. 15:11 Like if you go to a cinema hall, 15:15 inside the cinema hall, people sit in illusion.! 15:22 People ask me, "Swamiji, do you see movies?" 15:26 I say, “You know, I prefer not to see movies and read novels because we are already in Maya, why increase the Maya further?” 15:35 But everybody has their own interests. 15:38 So, sitting in the movie hall, people fall into illusion. 15:44 What is going on, on the screen? 15:47 You have the light of different colours falling; 15:52 people accept it as the reality. 15:59 I had a friend in school. 16:04 He was a fan of Devanand (Indian actor). 16:07 And if he saw Devanand with a shoe torn in some movie, he would also tear his shoe. 16:18 In the olden days, when the movies first came, people were so simple they would accept them as the reality. 16:27 And that's why in a tragedy scene half the hall used to be crying. 16:33 Now, it was only the light falling. 16:36 But people accepted it as the reality. Tragedy Scene 16:41 And the moment the main switch came on and there were lights in the hall, 16:46 everybody's illusion was dispelled. 16:50 'Oh, where are my slippers?' 16:52 'I hope my keys have not fallen. Let me be the first one to the scooter stand. After that there will be a lot of traffic.’ 16:59 The reason for the illusion was the darkness of the cinema hall.! 17:05 Similarly, the reason for all this confusion is the darkness that has enveloped the soul. 17:13 And that darkness is of the nature of Maya (material energy). 17:18 (Scriptural verse) 17:22 Why has Maya (material energy) overcome us? 17:25 Because we have turned our backs towards the light. 17:31 Krishna surya sama (Krishna is like the sun) 17:33 God is like the sun. 17:35 We have turned our backs towards the sun, and hence, the darkness of Maya has overcome us. 17:43 So, here Kripalu Ji Maharaj completes his description of the ‘Jeev tattwa’ (the entity called soul).
